Yeah it did. I think it was about a year and a half ago when the RIAA sent them a cease and desist letter.

Since then it has been kept on life-support through third-party patches and modifications.
 
WinMX is alive and reasonably healthy. I get on there once in a blue moon these days, but prefer torrents myself...

Choc, just out of curiosity, why can't you use LimeWire?

Horsehead, we have windows 98 and when we installed Limewire it worked and everything, but it installed the new Java which was too new for our computer and caused it to run very slow. (i.e. internet banking)

Well, you could try rolling back your version of Java to the old one that worked. You could also try Frostwire: http://www.frostwire.com/
