Benny hasn't had his greatest year and in my opinion he has added some icing to the cake by commenting on our playing style.

Benny, it's been 32 stuffing years. I don't care about out style of play - I want to win heaps of games of football.
Like Freo since they got rid of Harvey and became single minded about winning.

We have a middling list that is full of stuffing triers.

Let's just focus on winning.
Single minded.
Like Freo or Sydney, The ones who have played in the last couple of Grand Finals?

The ones we almost BEAT at their own game in the past 2 weeks?

Maybe it's a hint Benny.

Winning talks and I don't care what it takes - it'd be nice to have that in common with Benny, the board, the coach and the playing list.

The only team that has won a flag like that in my memory was Roos with the Swans. The Swans play attractive footy and have for awhile. Freo would have made it 2 but they didn't.

Collingwood didn't really play attractive football in 2010 and Hawks played unsociable footy in 2008

I actually really enjoy the way Freo play. The high pressure game is incredible.

Historically, the best defending sides have won flags or been right in the hunt.
Ross Lyon has been in 4 Grand Finals, Roos 3?, woosha 2? Mick Malthouse 5 or 6?
They are dour pricks. I like it cause it works.

Collingwood averaged 107 points per game in 2010 and Hawks 111 in 2008. Hardly defensive teams. Sure they could defend but they did both. Sydney 2012 at 104.

Sydney 2005 by comparison were at 90.

4 out of 15 then?

High scoring doesn't make attractive footy. Collingwood games were choked into their forward 50 and just created chance after chance.

Doesn't really matter though. I'd take everyone complaining about the way we played footy if we won every week. And i think most of those sides find themselves setting up very defensively to begin with and expanding offensively as they grow in confidence and maturity.

I would rather tank than win ugly but I regard tanking as taboo!!

That's a good point but I doubt Benny would be commenting on our game style if we were playing high pressure footy and averaging over 100 points per game. He made the comments because we scored barely 50 for a whole game that we dominated possession in. :p

You think we have a list good enough to consistently win playing exciting football?
I'm simply saying that while the super defensive game can get you deep into finals, only 4 times of the 15 you've mentioned there have actually resulted in a premiership. My opinion is that that is the big flaw with Ross Lyon: his teams don't kick high enough scores.

There must be a middle ground.
