How many wins at this stage would you be happy with, i think 8 would be considered a successful season at carlton town, which would see us finish around 10-11, which is a huge improvement on the last few seasons and would set up a good 2009. cant really see where those wins will come from, freo this week and maybe beat the tiges and bombers. i think the club needs a big club win againest either the cats, hawks or doggies highly unlikely, but would build huge confidence to beat a team contending for the finals. Yes we did beat port last year but they clearly were not up to sratch........

Eight would be a great result, and would be a great stepping stone for next year. Still would give us a good shot at some decent draft picks for one last year I would hope. Next year, knocking on the door of the 8! ;)

i think we could win 8 games if we switch on and dont get any more serious injuries. i think 6-7 is a realistic expectation (and with the top 3 teams undefeated so far, that means around 12th or so on the ladder).

In the paper it was mentioned today that the way things are going 10 wins might be enough to get in the 8 this year. This would mean we'd have to win 7 out of the last 14. Possible?? Well, we should have a lot more players coming back in the second half of the year, but we do travel 3 more times and still have to face the top sides. I would doubt we'd get over the line but if we can finish off strong (8 wins perhaps) this will give us something to work towards for next year. Another shocking end to the year would be a disaster.

Its a hard season..so even at the top, we have already dropped some games i thought we should have won......but that happens from time to time. I dont know how many wins but to get a good idea of where we are i think we must compare ourselves to teams that have shared the bottom half in previous years with us.

If we finish below...

Richmond
Melbourne (unlikely)
Essendon (rubbish)

I will take this season as a failed one. Yes its a development year but we must win as many as we can to get this losing culture that has entered our club OUT. I think we have a better list (Even with injuries) then those clubs mentioned.

So that would put us at 10-12th

Anything less than 7 I will not be happy. Although are we a real chance to win even 7, we have only beat West Coast, Melbourne and Scum. We have lost to the likes of Essendon, Richmond and St Kilda so thats possibly 2 wins out of 5 teams that are more than likely to finish out of the 8. Our run actually has been rather kind to us. We are yet to play IMO a top 4 side or maybe even a top 6 side. This could be intresting.

Im actually not sure where we are at.

I think that sums it up, to be honest. Due to the bizarre draw, we haven't played any of the top 3 yet. We lost to Adelaide and Brisbane, who seem to be just behind the top 3, fairly convincingly. Our wins were against Collingwood (in a blockbuster game; those games tend to be roughly 50/50 regardless of ladder position), Melbourne (terrible) and West Coast (terrible, but a win in Perth is good no matter what). We lost blockbusters to Essendon and Richmond, both of whom seem around the same area as us. And we lost to a mid-tier team in St Kilda.

I think we've probably jumped into the middle tier of the ladder now; a group that probably stretches from 6th to 14th right now (if Freo lose to us next week they're in the bottom tier; Essendon close to dropping as well, and Richmond will fall unless they start winning close games). Its not a stretch to say we'll finish 11th by that reasoning - and if things go right, maybe even higher (if everything went perfectly, I don't see why we couldn't finish 6th-8th, but we've copped injuries so that isn't happening). 11th probably gives us 7-8 wins? I dunno - we'll most likely win 2 of 3 against Ess, Coll and rich, might win against Freo, and lose to Geelong, Hawthorn, Bulldogs, Adelaide. I have no idea what happens in the rest, so we're going to end up somewhere between 5 and 13 wins.

as long as we win the games we can win and remain competitive in the others, we will have been successful this year

i said to my mates at season start even before the NAB

that at round 12 we should be 5 wins and 7 losses at the min

anymore losses would be unacceptable and any more wins would be a bonus

Currently 3 wins 5 losses after 8 rounds.

With so many of our precious few experienced hard bodied players out injured, their return should have significant impact on our ability to win games, so I have listed their names in brackets in the games they are expected to return.

Rd 9 Fremantle TD: Should win
Rd 10 Geelong TD (Cloke, Bannister, Thornton?): Not likely

Rd 11 Port AMMI (Thornton): Could win -we do match up well against them, but AMMI?
Rd 12 Collingwood MCG (Jamison?): Should win
Rd 13 Essendon MCG (Jamison): Should win
Rd 14 Richmond MCG (Walker?): Should win
Rd 15 St Kilda MCG (Walker): Could win
Rd 16 Sydney TD: Not likely -we haven't beaten them since 2000!
Rd 17 Western Bulldogs TD: Could win -we do match up well against them, but TD?
Rd 18 Adelaide AAMI: Not likely
Rd 19 Port Adelaide TD: Could win
Rd 20 Kangaroos TD: Not likely -we haven't beaten them since 2004
Rd 21 Brisbane GABBA: Not likely
Rd 22 Hawthorn TD: Not likely

Assuming we win all of the 'should win' games (Freo, Coll, Ess, Rich) we will finish the season with 7 wins, IMO disappointing.

Of the 'could win' games I'd back us in for Port at TD and the Doggies, which would be 9 wins for the season, a pass mark, but nothing to celebrate.

If we could win at least 2 of the other 8 games (not entirely out of the realm of posibility), that would give us 11 and a sniff of September action and then I'd break out the Cristal :thumbsu:
