Wirrpunda wants to stay with the Eagles

From the West

DAVID WIRRPUNDA has told West Coast he wants to stay.

The dashing defender comes out of contract at the end of the year.

Melbourne media has been speculating he wants to return to his family in Victoria.

But Eagles chief executive Trevor Nisbett said yesterday Wirrpunda had indicated through his manager, Jim Tsagalis, he wanted to stay at the club.

"We've been talking to David's manager about getting a firm commitment and at this stage he says he does want to re-sign," Nisbett said.

"What we now have to do is weigh up what is the best time to do it."

Now it's Judd's turn.

That article says nothing, really. Is he really saying that he's going to stay, or that he wants to stay but wants a better deal?

The article spelt it out clearly to me. He want's to re-sign according to his manager.

Until the contract is inked there will be doubt about what sort of deal he wants, but lets face it - He's our rock down back and now finally appears over his injury problems. He will be accomodated whatever his demands.

Exactly! I think whatever he wants wont be too unreasonable. He doesnt seem like the flashy type of guy, it doesnt seem like money is his biggest concern. More likely he wants to beable to be with his family whenever its needed, and, as in the past, Im SURE there'll be no problems with that!

great news!!!

I was 99% sure all that vic stuff was a crock of ****, beaten up by one interview.

and for those that are a bit skeptical because there are no quotes from Wirra in the article (at least i didn't see any - i only skimmed over it), the Eagles wouldn't come out saying "He's going to stay" if it were 50/50 because that would surely tip the scales against us.

Very very good news.

In this case, I don't think money was ever the issue- if he was unhappy here, then there was no way we could sign him no matter what total we were throwing at him. He's said he wants to stay, thats good enough for me- the contract will happen when it happens.

Now, if Judd would just get his act together and profess eternal undying devoting to the club, all would be well :)

The fact is, we're a good side, Melbourne footy media currently has nothing positive to write about because of the across the board mediocrity of Victorian sides, the result being the best they can come up with is trying to find cracks in the dominant teams in the league.

There are 7 weeks of the season left... I'm just trying to figure out if we have enough victorian players on our list for them to write a new sort of article like this every week... Haynes, Morrison, Braun...erm, they might have to double up.

On Channel 7 tonight, Wirra's manager said that there was a possibility his mother (Wirra, not the manager)'s mother could be moving to Perth next year

Now that's a sensible option.

BTW, does anyone have a couple of spare rooms, I have an idea to keep Judd..........

Just thought of a solution to the Judd problem.

Why doesn't the club try and bring Mr & Mrs Judd over to Perth to live.

Yeah Id be willing to put in some cash to pay the Judds an allowance to make em happy in Perth!
