I really wanted Deledio @ 1 and gratful we picked him up. Tambling was too good to pass at 4. However, as much as I think Danny Meyer @ 12 could be a good player I think it was overkill getting another onballer/flanker when we needed KPP and already had 2 of the best 3 mids in the draft. I see what Doggies are on about in reference to 'Midget Brigade'.

I've seen a bit of junior footy in my time. Probably saw Tambling on 6-7 occassions. He's good but I don't think he is that good. In my opinion not in the same class as Wells, but let's face it not many are. Tambling just seems to inconsistent. The occassional flashy brilliance is offset by poor disposal too often and some of his decision making leaves a bit to be desired.

I think Danny Meyer is a great pick up for you guys. I would have happily taken him at 6 and would probably have taken him ahead of Tambling.

Cheers for the kind words on Meyer. Dont get me wrong, he was a steal @ 12 and im very happy to have him at Punt Road. I was replying to the original question of how do you rate Plough thus far. Like i said, picking up Deledio and 2 smallish onball/flanker types might be overkill but im pleased non the less.

From what you have seen of young Daniel will he be able to play as a full midfeilder eventully or only ever as a flanker?

Im surpised about your thought in regards to Tambling. Im not his biggest fan (once again, would have loved Griffin @ 4) but from all the talk he is sposed to be a gun. By all accounts I was under the impression he was 'that good'. I relise he is capable of 'flashy brilliance' but i was lead to beleive unlike many aboriginal types consistancy was one of his major positives. :confused:

Like wise I thought his skills and football brain was top shelf?

Could you also give a run down of what you have seen of Griffin & Deledio,

Cheers. :)

from what Ive read about the players:

deledio = hird

i.e. medium tall, good mark for size, capable of playing midfeild or attack. however deledio sounds like a better kick and a bit faster so might be even more dangerous than hird up forward.

griffen = buckley

i.e. big midfielder, awesome kick, plays inside or outside, just does everything well and a natural leader. however griffen looks a little harder at it than buckley

tambling = wells / davies . lightning fast, lots of skills, evasion, good disposal. maybe a little more davies than wells in that he seems to have that left field unpredictability. better overhead than either.

so if they all live up to expectations, which would you rather have?

given the bullies picked up Ray the year before who does a very good impresion of a white wells/tambling, griffen seems like the go. is naturally more solid than either of the other two so maybe more injury proof too. knock on wood.

to me a midfield of murphy, ray, guido, cooney and griffen looks a lot more balanced than murphy, ray , guido, cooney and tambling.

Future is bright my friend. I assume guido is Giansiracusa?

Murphy (22), Cooney (19), Ray (18), Griffen (18) & Guido (??) will certianly gives you a future midfeild to look forward to.

With Ray as a smallish lad Griffen certainly make that mix look solid.

On the other hand im sure you will agree Tambling fits in well with Richmonds future midfeild with. Id assume Coughlan (22), Deledio (17) will develop into top shelf while the likes of Polo, Roach, Raines, Hartigan, Hyde, Newman needing a Tambling to add that bit of class.
