Does anyone give a damn?
With San Antonio now having a team, I might take a very, very, very slight interest over the NBA off-season, but I just thought I'd create a bit of conversation over the Women's League.

I'm more looking forward to the upcoming NBL season, but I'll take a passing interest in Seattle Storm games I suppose. There's often a lot worse stuff you can watch on Foxtel.

I have a passing interest. The Seattle Storm are obviously my team with LJ leading the way. We started horribly losing our first 3 but since then, have gone 4-1 to be 4-4 on the season and third in the West.

As loz is a "local", the Seattle Storm get pretty good coverage here in Canberra, and a lot of us Capitals fans discuss Seattle's form at the ACTAS games (ABA Waratah League). Seattle also has a couple of other Australians in Bevalaqua (spelling) and Brondello, and Batkovic joins next season. It's almost the Australian club, and it plays in Green and Gold.

Foxtel are televising Seattle V Los Aneles on Friday afternoon. Leslie V Jackson. The best grudge match in the WNBA and always worth watching as they almost to blows last season.

 Whoa.
The San Antonio Silver Stars have a 7-2 player, Margo Dydek from Poland. Damn, that's tall considering most of the other players in the WNBA are well below that height.

Ill definitely be watching.

On another note, does anyone know what happened to Veal? She was playing for Phoenix last season but now I think she is out of the league?? She is good enough to play in the WNBA so Im wondering where she has gotten to?

She left Pheonix a week or two before the start of the season and returned home, sighting personal reasons. She is apparently feeling a little sick of Basketball at the moment. Hopefully she gets over this feeling before the start of the WNBL as the Caps need her to defend their title.

On another note, the Canberra Capitals will miss the first few weeks of the WNBL season as they will represent the WNBL in a World Team Cup being held in Russia (I think) in October. The top 8 teams (2 from the WNBA, 2 from Europe, 1 from South America, Asia, Africa and Australia) will fight our to see which is the best woman's basketball club in the world. I already know it's the Capitals but it will be nice to see it proven.:D
My only concern is if Seattle finsh first or second, which team does loz play for?

half time LA v Seattle. Jackson's Storm with a bit of a lead at the moment.
LJ and Leslie already had a heated exchange :D Resulted in Leslie getting a T.... Jackson gets into her head far too easy. Hopefully Jackson tears her up after half time

Enjoyable game between the LA and the Storm. LJ and Leslie's rivalry is fantastic to watch. LJ and Bird were both looking hot, and Brondello was cutting LA up!

LJ got it going in the second half, hitting a driving hook shot, nailing a couple of three's but it was Brondello that clinched the victory. The Storm will be thereabouts this season.

Sue Bird is hot both on and off the court, i love that ad on ESPN for the WNBA "i'm not as sweet as you think i am" i think Seattle just may be my WNBA team.....

Brondello is the ingredent Seattle needed to take the next step. They were missing a third scorer last season, and the fact she is a perimeter shooter has opened up the inside for Vodichkova and Jackson. LA and Houston are still the big 2 in the West, but Seattle announced its arrival.

My newly adopted SA Silver Stars copping a whalloping by LJ and the Storm. 93 to 53.

Oh, and Marie Ferdinand is hot.

:D :D :D

Jod, I know it may be a tad late but you've gotta give Ms Bird an honourable mention in the Thread of Threads.

If you are talking about Stacey Dales-Schumann, then you need shooting. She is rancid. There is no one in the WNBA better looking (or a better PG) than Bird, as for the WNBL there are a couple of hotties on the Caps roster that blow Bird away.

Lauren Jackson scored 23 points and pulled down 20 rebounds in Seattle's 69-54 victory over the East's second place Charlotte Sting. Charlotte were held to 21 rebounds for the game. Tully Bevalaqua scored a career high 14 points.

Loz is now one of the favourites for the MVP having had her fourth double-double in a row. She is currently second in scoring and 6th in rebounding, as well as being top 10 in blocks.

Go Aussies.

With Lisa Leslie out, you would think LJ is a huge chance for the MVP, she needs to take Storm deep into the playoffs though. Bird is a great PG but the Storms chances ride with LJ.

The Storm are playing the LA Sparks (minus Leslie) at the moment and inside the first 15 minutes the Storm are leading 24-17. Jackson has 22pts and 6 rebs. Over the last fortnight Loz has taken her game to a level Leslie could only dream of playing at. If she doesn't get MVP, it will be the biggest conspiracy since the JFK assassination.

Jackson finished with a career high 34 points and 13 rebounds in a 92-56 romp. It was her 8th double-double for the season an sixth in the last seven games, and she only played about 25 minutes. Not a bad nights work.
