BROWNLOW medallist Shane Woewodin is on cloud nine.

He is playing finals footy at the weekend, has recently become engaged to a longtime schoolfriend and is elated to learn the couple will soon be having their first child.
"It's what I've always dreamed of doing -- being a dad and having a family life and settling down," the 26-year-old said yesterday.

The Demons midfielder popped the question to Deanne Price. They met 11 years ago at high school in Perth.

Woewodin surprised the naturopathy student during a night out two weeks ago.

"I thought we were just going out for dinner and a movie at Southbank, but he organised for us to stay at Crown overnight," the 23-year-old said.

"We went upstairs and there were red roses on the bed.

"Then he got down on his knee and I just burst into tears because I knew what was going on then."

The couple's baby is due in April.

Deanne has a three-year-old boy, Shaye, from a previous relationship.

Woey has been playing some good footy lately, but I'm only really concerned with how he goes on the field. If marriage and a family makes his form on the field better then it's great news.

BTW, looking at the Woey photo he's aging very very quickly

Nah, I am with you on that one mate. I'd much prefer to marry and THEN have kids. But yes, the world is a funny place!

when i heard i was very happy for him, he was able to get some stability back in his life and it has showed through his footy. which well as shows is good for the footy club and our future

I think you will find that Mish likes Woey for his football attributes, and not what he looks like. Trust me, I know. She is one of the only girls I know that I can say that about, and I am trying to be as un-biased as possible.

And things changed when I came along anyway!

Girls do it mate, we know that. She wasn't as nearly as bad as others who do gay stuff like make nicknames etc. That's going WAY over the top.

And with the spelling, you can't teach an old dog new tricks!
