* A second body has been found and identified as Sally's husband Rex Chen, with the police treating the case as a targeted double murder

The body of a woman wrapped in plastic has been found on the side of a busy road near the airport in Sydney. She'd been there for a while apparently and nobody noticed it.

Victim identified.
Seems like another DV tragedy.
So sad.

How come Zhuojun "Sally" Li does not appear on any missing persons listings anywhere on the internet I can see despite it being reported in the media today that "Ms Li was reported missing to police earlier this month after her mother was unable to reach her."?

Is that maybe because she was listed and now that she'd been found dead, all those listings have been removed?

Or is that just because the NSW Police Mission Persons Registry is not a public registry?

And today in the news from the West, WA Police announced they are planning to launch a dedicated missing persons website.

'Western Australia offers up to $500,000 rewards for information to sole 361 missing persons cases'

Western Australia has announced it will pay up to $500,000 for information that helps solve hundreds of active missing persons cases across the state.

On Saturday, Police Minister Paul Papalia announced the reward scheme — marking the first time in the State’s history a payout is on offer for missing persons dating back more than seven decades.
...
'There are currently 361 long-term missing persons cases in Western Australia, categorised as someone that hasn’t been seen for 90 days with no indications of criminality.

The reward scheme will roll out in early January with WA Police planning to launch a dedicated missing persons website.

I think this is just the sad culmination to the other sad event.
I'm confused. From the article:

There is a continued appeal for help for any information about a car seen stopping near where Li’s body was discovered.

The silver Toyota Avensis, which does not belong to Li or Chen, stopped on the northern side of Foreshore Rd between 4am and 5am on November 30.

Police previously said it is believed the vehicle was used to transport Li’s body to the scene.

While the vehicle has been seized and is being forensically examined, no one connected to the car has yet been spoken to.

The police are now saying it was a targeted double murder…
Precisely. So why would you say it was just "the sad culmination to the other event"? It was pretty obvious police believed there was more to it when they were asking for witnesses regarding the car.

A second body found near where a woman's remains were located wrapped in plastic at Botany last week is believed to be the woman's husband, police say.

Last Saturday, detectives formally identified the 33-year-old woman as Zhuojun "Sally" Li and said they were searching for her husband, Jai-Bao "Rex" Chen, also 33.

Superintendent Doherty said police were looking at whether the motive behind the alleged double murders was debt related.

There was an assumption in the earlier reporting that hubby may have done away with his wife and fled. Now that he has been found the police obviously have some evidence that that was not the case. I hadn’t read that before I posted.

It was in the article I posted that you replied to, which is why I expressed my confusion.

ETA: The police and media really need to stop jumping to conclusions.

It's probably the latter, but it could also be that they have entered the name incorrectly. I've seen that happen a couple of times and I think the chances of it happening with non anglo names is even greater. (I say this as someone with a name that is not anglo and which is constantly spelt incorrectly.)

Did you check for other variations such as "Li Zhoujun" and "Li Zhou Jun"?

I find this article a bit misleading. Relevant excerpts:

The man whose body was found dumped in a Botany park less than 10 metres from where his wife’s corpse was located the week before had a significant history of drug supply.

Then

The Herald can reveal that Chen’s criminal history dates back to 2020 when he was convicted of four counts of supplying cannabis and three counts of possession. He avoided prison and was sentenced to a conditional release order and fined $250.

In 2022, he was again in trouble over drugs.

This time, he was convicted of supplying a small amount of cannabis and again avoided prison and was sentenced to time in the community.

Yeah, sounds like a drug kingpin to me.
