Hi guys.

Been following Austin's form a little this year, was quite interested in the Dogs chasing him at draft time and saw a bit of him for Norwood last year. Seems as though he has been doing alright, not getting a whole heap of possessions - that was probably to be expected as I doubt his fitness is yet up to the level that he'd want/need it to be - but kicking a few goals and doing alright.

Have you guys been impressed with him? Is he playing predominately forward? Should develop into a pretty handy player for you guys me thinks.

Good luck with the rest of the season. Cheers.

I rate him very highly and yesterday was his best performance in the red and blue...
Looking forward to some more brothers goals with Aussie and Davey combining in the future.

Woneaemirris fitness is ok and has an excellent work rate. Is capable of running high 13s in the beep - yes, could be better. Probably needs to trim some fat but has a mature body for a 19 yr old. What you probably don't see is the amount of chasing he does because the ball gets turned over continueously which is probably why he struggles like most Melbourne forwards to get high numbers. He has also played the majority of his football in the back pocket - ran 16kms, kicked 2 goals and had 34 posessions in a game against Tassie (I think) 2 years ago for the NT. Would like to see the dees give him a run down back when there is a match up for him like Hooper (Lions), Campbell (Roos), Betts (Bues) and maybe Rioli (Hawks) then we might see how much footy he can get and how big his tank really is. Generally going ok and just starting to get some confidence. Will repay the faith the dees showed in him especially when no other club would.

Definitely think he needs to trim down a bit, I think that'd help his pace off the blocks (and obviously his pace in general) which seems to be a little down at the moment. Also his general ball skills, gets caught up a little bit, but certainly I think he's willing to improve and I'd love to see him at the club for a long time to come, will work brilliantly in tandem with Davey.

Thanks for your responses. You've obviously seen quite a lot of him TiwiGM - don't think I've seen him down back before, would be interesting to see how he goes.

I'm a big fan of this kid, but he needs to work on his game to stay at AFL level. He's had a lucky few games goals wise and because his senior teammates are letting the club down overall and making him look better than he is.

But 50% efficiency with disposals is just not good enough and the lowest at the club. Definately needs to work on his skills.

He shows some signs of genuine pace, but doesn't use it in the right situations.

On one hand he'll try and run down a guy 50 metres away with no hope in hell. On the other, he'll jog after a guy who is 5 metres away then stand with his hands on his hips.

Maybe its because he is a rookie and not being rotated off the bench enough or too much, but surely after a pre-season and a season at Norwood he should have some match fitness.

He is young and raw and looks to have loads of potential, but some good promising talents like Djaran Wyman and David Roden have in the past been delisted by other clubs for less. Because they are smaller they need to work consistently harder.

His skills are fine on both sides but maybe just needs to make better decisions.

81% efficiency against geelong on debut

90% against the roos

66% against carlton
