Why does everyone say because Woosha is a favourite son, it will not work out and pointing the finger at other coaches such as Knights, Schimma, Bartlett as examples?

I am sure there are many other favourite sons of clubs during the history of the game that have coached their clubs to the flag.

Any ideas on whom to name?
Seems too many are ready to brand Woosha a failure long before he has coached his first game. Who knows, (and I know its a wild shot) if he gets us a top 8 position next year, will those who have written him off eat their words? I think not.....

we shall see....

re: Bartlett, Knights, Shaw and Watson etc

They maybe favourite sons of their respected clubs, but none of them were as good as leaders than Woosha. All these players $hit on Woosha as players, and that is to the credit of how good Woosha's leadership skills are.

It will be a hard job, but if supporters stay patient, and players maintain their respect for him, then I would be surprised if he can't take the Eagles to the top in 3-4 years.

Salient point V-o-R, but you also would be aware, if you were going to interviews, and had your heart set on getting job 'x' then if that job was offerred to you, why wouldn't you take it straight away - where is the desicion to be made?

It suprised me admittedly, but woosha sure came across just about reluctant to take the job on ...

Somewhere around Tim Gepp and the knife cabinet, apparently ;)

I'd say he probably got plied with a lot of sweet nothings in his ear from Freo, and was curious about that alternative although he knew he'd love the Eagles job. Can't blame him for being sensible in what is a field ruled a little too often by the heart and not the head.

I'm glad he made them sweat on it for a day or so. The way they stuffed him around during the whole debacle is a disgrace.

btw... there's a delightful article in todays age kindly highlighting our supreme mishandling of the coaching scenario. It can also be found here

Enjoy :)
