Just a quick question whilst i'm here on an Android thread:)

Is the quickly growing versions of Android available for installs available for install on the new gen of phones moving forward?

Ok.... Huh?
LOL that will learn me posting after WAY to many wines :)

Basically the question I was asking was if I buy an android smartphone now, is it possible to upgrade them to newer versions of Android as they come out or are you stuck with the one you bought....

WOW, it so much easier sober :p

officially it will all depend on the manufacturer.
right now, HTC seem the best at pushing out updates to their phones. the desire started with eclair and was one of the first after the N1 to get froyo. HTC have also committed the desire for the gingerbread upgrade in the next few months.

unofficially, if your phone can be rooted. xda developers push out custom ROMs for most popular phones. they also add quite a bit of functionality and features otherwise missing from the software.

i've got a desire myself and i have the oxygen ROM (will wait a week more before putting the gingerbread ROM onto it)

anyone else having this app crashing all the time and force closing
running oxygen 2.0.1 ROM (gingerbread) on the desire
