I did my year 10 work experience at Inside Edge magazine. It was AWESOME, I just sat in the editor's office subbing articles, talking shit and I even got to write a bit for the mag and got my name in the conrtibutors section :thumbsu: Plus we interviewed Brett Lee, that was pretty sweet.

Did mine at The Age. I tagged along with the cadets throughout the different sections of the newspaper. Got to ride along to a few interviews with a couple of footy players, was lots of fun.

I did mine a few years ago at the MCG/MCC, spent a day in each department (MCC Tours, Membership, Marketing, Administration and Ground Maintenance) and had the time of my life. There was also a Pura Cup match between W.A. and Victoria and i was privelidged to meet Justin Langer and watch him warm up in the nets whilst being able to watch the game throughout the day. I also helped set up for the days cricket including painting the crease, putting out the rope, rolling the pitch etc, was a great experience. From memory it was also around the time Warney got busted for drugs and he was making his first appearance back in Melbourne at the MCG during this game, so during the administration day we were scoping the stadium cameras to see if we could get a sneak peak of him arriving ;). Also to top things off got a free cooked buffet for lunch as well as unlimited soft drinks because the guy I was working with in Administration (named Gary from memory) had a fridge full of them :D

Highly recommend but you will have to get in very early to secure a spot :thumbsu:

I did my work experience at the Children's Medical Research Institute (the non-profit cancer/disease organisation behind Jeans for Jeans day). It was absolutely amazing, very hands on and practical, but I'm a biology/chemistry lover so it appealed to me at least.

Always wanted to do work experience at the Swans medical dept. because its one of the best of its kind, a physio or a sports surgeon (I intend on becoming one :)), but you need experience in the field otherwise no practical stuff, minimal observation and you'd only be photocopying & filing all day.

Pretty sure it was the standard 9am - 4.30/5pm or something along those lines. As for applying just send an application away as soon as you can (can never be too early) indicating the dates of your work experience and they should get back to you reasonably quickly. :thumbsu:

i did a sport related work experience.

i worked at the rugby league megastore in sydney in 2000. it was called that but sold all sorts of sporting merchandise.

at the end they gave me 50 bucks, a free jersey (naturally picked a west coast one which i still wear to training), and half price on the clothes that i was planning on buying when i finished.

Thanks! Do i contact the website ? I going to do Work experience next year around the last two weeks of term 2? Is it too early to apply ?:D

Year 9 - Safeway - worst two weeks of all time (was also too young to get a job at the end of it, so pointless)

However volunteer/placement I've done during uni has involved AFL Publishing (interviewed Deledio, Bartel and Peverill, and had some articles written up...I have a pdf at home with my Bartel interview), have also done work at Werribee F.C. (not stats), and also the Melbourne Storm (which has led to part time employment) and also North Melbourne F.C.

When people say North have no money, they are correct, the joint is literally falling down and most local clubs have better facilities.

Did work experience with Porter Davis Homes. Just done lock-up a fix out with 1 of the guys.

Pretty easy just had to straighten out the walls and the roof for the plasters and then put the skirting on.

Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure - Public Transport Division. Was one of the best weeks of my life. Went bac 2.5yrs later and got a job there, which has enabled me to move up the chain and get another job in Sydney with more opportunity :thumbsu:
