I did mine a few years ago at the MCG/MCC, spent a day in each department (MCC Tours, Membership, Marketing, Administration and Ground Maintenance) and had the time of my life. There was also a Pura Cup match between W.A. and Victoria and i was privelidged to meet Justin Langer and watch him warm up in the nets whilst being able to watch the game throughout the day. I also helped set up for the days cricket including painting the crease, putting out the rope, rolling the pitch etc, was a great experience. From memory it was also around the time Warney got busted for drugs and he was making his first appearance back in Melbourne at the MCG during this game, so during the administration day we were scoping the stadium cameras to see if we could get a sneak peak of him arriving . Also to top things off got a free cooked buffet for lunch as well as unlimited soft drinks because the guy I was working with in Administration (named Gary from memory) had a fridge full of them

Highly recommend but you will have to get in very early to secure a spot

I do this in a permanent job during the cricket season - but at Bellerive Oval.

Help out with the covers when it rains, and look after a sightscreen during each game.

Essentially get paid around $13 an hour to sit on a chair and watch the cricket, and push the sightscreen every now and then.

$10 lunch voucher and unlimited powerade is provided - it's a very cushy gig for someone still at school over the summer break.

But as for work experience, I did mine at the ABC.

Subbed articles, and basically took it all in for a week. Didn't do a huge amount, but it was overly enjoyable.

Where did you do work experience ? What places do you recommend of a sport loving and loves working with IT stuff ? They tell us we have to think about it for next year

Try going to a sports club. See if you can go and do it at North Melbourne.

I did mine at a wildlife and reptile park. Wasn't any good.

Was actually part of a High School Young Acheivers from Rural Areas scholarship thing. I got paid a few grand for the first year of uni, and got work experience during the breaks for 4 weeks at a time. Was interesting in pieces, but the problem was that having only completed 6 months of uni when I did the WE, I could really only do clerical work, which was boring as all hell...

Learnt a lot though and got paid so it wasnt too bad...

Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure - Public Transport Division. Was one of the best weeks of my life. Went bac 2.5yrs later and got a job there, which has enabled me to move up the chain and get another job in Sydney with more opportunity

Certainly did. Take advantage of any experience in the field you like, you never know how it can help you down the track
