AFL Club
West Coast
If this isn't thread worthy then I'm sure it'll find its way into the non-Eagles discussion thread, but as he is without a doubt the iconic figure of our club I thought I'd make mention. Reports are swirling that Essendon have made an offer to Worsfold to take over as head coach next season, with AFL360 tonight running with the story.

Both Gerard and Robbo claimed to have independently come to the conclusion that Worsfold would be a good fit for the next coach. In Monday's Herald Sun Woosha claimed to not be open to coaching and having not changed his position since the start of the season, when he was clear he was finished. However, tonight, Woosha has suggested that being back involved in footy has made him more receptive to the idea.

"There's no doubt that having been back involved, and then seeing how great an environment footy clubs are, that there is some thought there that a footy club is a good place to be. It's nice that people think you might have the skill set. I'll give it more thought than I have at the start of the season." -Worsfold on tonight's 7 news.

Will Worsfold wind up as Essendon coach next season, or crop up at other clubs moving forward?

Why cant he stay at Adelaide? Aren't they looking for a coach too or they have their sights on Campo still?
Also been thrown out there, it sounds like a lot of rumours, 'sources' and it's all early days. They've both made the point tonight that he's clearly the top coaching candidate now that Bolton has committed to Carlton.

Fantastic coach who played a big role in getting the Eagles to where we are. I reckon he would be a perfect fit at the Dons, although it would be weird to see him coaching my most hated club of the 90/00s.

I hope he stays on at Adelaide (my second favourite side ) as the director of coaching. Essendon are still one of my favourite (or rather , least -disliked ) Victorian teams , despite ASADA etc , but they are a long way behind Adelaide. Besides, I don't want him to tarnish his name by going to Essendon :(
I'm glad he's definitely not going back to Carlton

He will coach Adelaide, I'd put good money on it.

Anyway he can't coach Essendon with their zero ruck poilcy, his 3 ruck policy wouldn't be allowed by the board.

Honestly think senior coaching has passed him by - he doesn't have the skillset required now.

Would make an outstanding director of coaching though. Adelaide should be putting together the offer now.

Always thought of woosh as a leader rather than a tactician - that shit gets delegated - hes the project manager rather than the gm

And hes good at it - the message got stale at the eagles - as any coach does at any club - but he still has something to offer if surrounded by the right people

Way past it.
Roos is getting left behind this year playing man on man and he's Paul Roos

Woosha is too old school for his own good

Has stated he isn't interested in being coaching director etc after this year.

Certainly wants to be a head coach again by the sounds of things

Essendon lacks any sort of tall forward outside of a very good but lone hand Daniher and there only decent ruck man (Bellchambers) is perpetually injured and might not be there next year. I am not sure how you fix having no ruckman and only 1 x KPF, it's like Fremantle but worse!

Ruck: xxxxx, Heppell, Goddard

Depth in a premiership winning team - (Dempsey, Colyer, Melksham, Myers, Kavanagh, Laverde, Baguley)

Don't do it Worsfold!

Don't agree. Roos may be set in his defensive ways but Woosha was always willing to change and innovate, which is why he got Phil Walsh. He was always looking for new ideas - even if he himself wasn't the most creative guy.

Woosh to Freo to buddy up with Suma .

Lyon to Essendon
Huge call! What is this based on though ? A hunch?
Couldn't see Lyon going to Essendon even if Freo go out in straight sets again

Purely guessing game at this stage but a long shot hunch based on Woosha wanting to stay in Wa .

Lyon's time seems nearly done at Freo something not quite right , so Essendon may be his get out of jail card .
