work in the half forward line for the pies ? hes got a great delivery and direction and i reckon he would kick a fair share of goals up there. hes fast enough and strong enough now. what do ye reckon ??

I have no doubt Marty would be able to kill it up forward. Reality it that we need him on the half backline with Heath Shaw not playing. I'd imagine next year if Marty has a big pre-season Mick would think about throwing him around a bit.

He could, but he's more important to us in the backline for now, and in the future, in the midfield.

I agree though, will be nice to see him getting to attack a bit more, he's a great kick.

With Heater out we can't afford to move Marty out of the backline. His next progression will be into the midfield, preferably early as a run with type after he's fully developed his defensive awareness.

Not really. He's basically spent his entire career learning the game as a midfielder/backman. Playing up forward is the last thing he should do. He's a midfielder through and through.

Agree with the general idea that he probably could but is far more needed in the backline right now and in the midfield going foward.

Intresting thought but if Didak where to get traded I think moving Marty to the midfield would minimize the lost from the midfield. As a midfielder Didak is a fairly outside elite user of the ball. Didaks best value is at HFF where we haven't had the luxury of using him this year.

Marty has some brilliant footskills a brilliant tank (which Didak lacks) and is hard at it. I am in no way saying Marty is a better player but as a midfielder I think Marty could cover Didaks abscence if need be.
