I know there's a few war buffs in our midst so i thought i'd ask.

Does anyone know the "Burma Medal"

Can you tell me what it was awarded for??

Awarded to all personnel who served in the Burma campaigns of 1942-45.

Not an award for conspicuous bravery, but an example of what is called a 'campaign medal'

You didn't need to have done anything outstanding, you just needed to be there.

I do believe there was another medal - The Burma Star, this was awarded for conspicuous bravery in the Burma campaigns

cheers

Thanks BSA

I think im after the Burma Star...

If someone was injured during battle, would this entitle them to The Burma Star, or just the Burma Medal?

Also this is awarded to all troops who had represented the Britan, not just Australians?

1. Not necessarily - unlike the Americans with their Purple Heart, I'm not entirely sure the Brits handed out medals just for getting injured.

2. I believe so, the Burma Medal was a campaign award so presumably anyone and everyone who served in the theatre of operations was entitled to one.

cheers
