Hmmm. What happened to "keeping a low profile" at Adelaide??
Is this good or bad?
Rebirth of Wayne Carey Inc
By MICHELANGELO RUCCI

WAYNE Carey's return to the commercial world – where he was once the highest-paid player off the AFL fields – begins today.
Carey, who reportedly was earning as much as $1 million a year from corporate giants such as Nike, has put his name and image on phone cards. The cards, in $5, $20 and $25 units with phone carrier Unidial, will be launched today and sold at the Crows' club shop at AAMI Stadium on Saturday night when Carey will play his 250th AFL game.
Carey, who came to Adelaide this year not wanting to be a billboard marketing image as he was at the Kangaroos, will break his recluse by signing the cards outside the AFL Store at Rundle Mall at noon. He will also have another appearance at the AFL store – owned by team-mate Mark Bickley – at Tea Tree Plaza.
The rebirth of Wayne Carey Inc – which retained just one private sponsor, pay-TV arm Foxtel, after his exit from the Kangaroos last year – will continue later this year with Carey's new management team launching his website, www.waynecarey.com.
Carey's agreement to be promoted on phone cards, after first shunning the commercial world to concentrate on his football in his comeback season, comes after coaxing from friend John McNamara.
"His profile remains one of the greatest players in Australian football history," McNamara said. "On the occasion of his 250th game it seemed right to produce a commemorative card – one that is also a phone card."
McNamara will use Carey's image to launch a series of AFL phone cards he intends to broaden with other Crows champions, in particular Nigel Smart, Andrew McLeod and Bickley. The phone cards also will be launched with a promotion in which fans will be offered the chance to win Adelaide guernseys and footballs signed by Carey.
Carey's website already is registered on the Internet and has a page holding space with the promise as the ultimate source of Carey information. Carey's new management team, Hi Sport, has described the website as another step in the seven-time All-Australian forward's return to the commercial world.
That process will begin with a more traditional approach today – signing autographs for the fans in Rundle Mall.
