Hi, i know you have to pay $50 a year for xbox live, and i will do that, just one question, what is the best way to get it, via the xbox360 dashboard? or from shops like eb games, game etc. Also do you have to pay $50 straight upfront, or can you pay monthly, if you can monthly how much?

Thanks in advanced

RRP is actually 79.95 a year mate, not 50, but you can get it cheaper in sales sometimes, or on ebay. You'll obviously always pay the RRP if you buy from microsoft direct, such as from the dashboard.

You can pay for 3 months, or monthly. But obviously more expensive. 10.95/month rrp

On ebay you can purchase 12 + 1 month for about $52. Best option.

You can get a 12 month Live starter kit at Target (their sale starts today) for $60. This includes 12 months live, a wired headset for online play / voice chat / voice messages etc. and a code for a free arcade game (usually Bankshot Billiards or Uno).

The starter kit is usually the best way to start out with, as you get the headset, but useless if you intend on getting the wireless headset.

I'd pick this up to begin with at target, simply because it's on sale for $60.

Other options are to buy 1 month, 3 month or 12 month cards from places like JB Hifi, or by renewing online.

Be wary that:
a.) if you get 1 month at a time, you will be paying $10.95 AUD per month (which does not turn out to be very economical)
b.) if you do it online via the dashboard using your credit card, it will Auto Renew every 1 / 3 / 12 month(s) depending on which option you select, so if there is no money on the card, it can get quite messy. Additionally, removing CC details from the console can be a bit of a hassle as you have to ring MS Support to take it off and it can sometimes take a few weeks.

Plus, if (god forbid) your console gets stolen or account hacked, then your CC details are there for the would be thief.

I suggest dropping into Target, picking up the 12 month starter kit for $60, then at renewal time, exploring the Ebay 12 + 1 month for $52 option.

Good luck :thumbsu:
