Looking at one of the those el cheapo 42 inch plasma's for my room for about $7-800 but that Samsung for 1k is very tempting. Looking at getting a Xbox for it aswell.

Depends where its for.

If you're bang in front of the screen, like a bedroom, maybe not.

But in general...biggers better

Definitely DO NOT take that deal. I recently bought mine for 2300 (2700 with 5 year warranty). Add 400 for the Wii, and that comes to 3100. Way under the RRP.

Originally I was looking at the 850A, but there really isnt much difference with the 800A

850A vs 800A
30(1 extra speaker) watts vs 20 watts (20 Watt speaker produce good sound, but I have surround speakers anyway)
4 HDMI vs 3 HDMI (3 is bare minumum that is needed)
Japan vs china (both Pana factories so I dont expect inferior parts)
pip vs no pip (big deal)
nicer bezel vs ok bezel (Missus may have a say here)

I got it about 3 weeks ago, and it is awesome. A lot of people actually think that the picture on the 800A is better than the 850A, so I decided that the 800 would be a wiser purchase given the price tag and minimal differences.

Puchase it though mate, you will not regret it!

I just picked up a 40IN X SERIES FULL HD BRAVIA LCD KDL40X3100 with the 100hertz motion thingy for $1999 at Harvey Norman. They were trying to get rid of them because the new ones are coming out soon.

Thought that was pretty solid, and I feel even better since I read that you can hardly tell the difference between the new X-series and the one I purchased.

Decent buy?

Purchased the TH-50PZ800A for $2219.50 with delivery and 5 year warranty
Oh and a free Wii that comes with it...
