Young bloke from NSW

Has anybody heard anything about that big young lad from NSW who's was a junior rugby player,he's suppose to have a big body for age?.His name escapes me,I'm just wondering if he's still going to be drafted?.

from what i have read on PRE and OER, he is playing good football but apparently the Club isn't really putting any time into him! Not sure if they spoke to him last weekend while the side was in sydney but from all reports he is playing well.

Richmond has signed a powerfully-built 16-year-old as part of the AFL’s NSW scholarship scheme. ruckman/key-position player, who is currently boarding at Scots College in Sydney and is in Year 11. Lee is an elite basketballer and has also represented his school at Rugby Union.

He is originally from Melbourne and lived in Vermont, before shifting to Sydney when he was 10 years old.

“Harrison has a very limited Australian Football background, playing only four games before the recent NSW under-18 regional football championships, held in Coffs Harbour in January. However, he did attend AUSKICK when he lived in Melbourne, so he developed some early football skills,” said Richmond’s Recruiting Manager Francis Jackson.

“What initially caught my eye about Harrison was his competitiveness and aggressive approach to his footy.

“He has good movement skills and rucked very well in the carnival, showing plenty of courage to take a number of marks in front of looming packs.

“He was named in the best players and kicked two goals in his third game of the carnival.

“Overall, Harrison has adapted very quickly to the demands of Australian Football, and he loves the contested aspects of the game.”

Lee will play with the University NSW-Eastern Suburbs club in the Sydney Australian Football League this season under the coaching guidance of former Swans star Matthew Nicks.

He also will visit Tigerland during the year and undertake skill development programs with the Club’s new Player Development Coach, Craig McRae.

The NSW scholarship scheme allows each AFL club to recruit up to two teenagers from NSW each year (one is compulsory), which the AFL fund. To be eligible, players must be aged 15-17 years and have lived in the eligible NSW regions for at least three years. Scholarship players, who are free to sign with the club of their choice, receive a minimum scholarship of $10,000 per year and can be upgraded to their aligned club’s primary or rookie list once they reach draft age

Don't spend too much energy on worrying about this bloke. The scheme itself has been downsized and is no longer compulsory. Richmond will probably dump it. We only took on a guy because we had too - and we were one of the last to do so.

Sydney / Northern NSW is hardly a hotbed of talent. At best there are 1-2 players a year worth looking at - and with 30ish on scholorships the strikerate will be dire.

Just an update on Harrison’s pedigree

Dad played Basketball for Nunawading Spectors.
His great Grandfather was the brother of Mark (The General) Lee’s Grandfather.
His father’s cousins played for NZ All Blacks.
His second (or third) cousin recently represented the NZ under 19 All Blacks team.

May show some promise.
