I hope you are right as from memory we really have had what I would call only 3 really decent F/S picks in the last few years.

SOS is obviously the best and Whitnall and Waitey are the others.

Scott Howell was a premiership player but in reality was an average player.
Young Blackwell is still too green to make any real judgement on yet.

Perhaps someone else can refresh my memory to some other good F/S picks in recent times.

SOS wasn't a father/son pick up.....the rule was brought in after he was drafter (i think but pretty +ve)

Sam Sheldon his name is...............currently playing at Haileybury College. I'm pretty sure he is avalialbe next year, thus he's making Carlton have to make a decision on Tomi Johnston this year as well. If we took them both next year, we'd have to give up a 2nd Round Pick for one of them.

I've got a feeling Tomi Johnston might get overlooked under the F/S Rule, but is more a Rookie List option..........from all reports, he's got good skills, runs all day, is hard at it, but is extremely skinny at only 60 odd kilos and a little on the short side.

Tomi also has the added problem that we'll soon have Marc Murphy, Luke Blackwell and Adam Bentick, being similar players, playing similar roles.

His dad was a champ though, and I'd hate to see him make it at another club. Perhaps a late draft pick is the way to go....

i think we made the right decision in not picking cameron hunter under the F/S. The Dominator was one of our greatest but we shouldn't let sentimentality cloud our judgements.

I hope you mean this year as he is to young. But if you mean ever then you need to have a good hard look at yourself.
He has been down to the club and Carlton are very interested in him. Unless something bad happens to him he will be a father/son pick in 2006.
Played very well at the U16s championships recently.
180cms and 16 years old when measured at that. Hopefully will grow a fair bit more. Not express pace on him I have been told. But is working on it.

You are right. Cant change the way you run with a sprint coach (like Bentick has done this year). You cant actually get quicker or more explosive.

I dont think sprinters actually train do they?
Just turn up once every 4 years and run in the Olympics and then go back to drinking beer and eating pies until the next race.

Right? :D

you're a tool! This isn't tongue rolling, it's bloody running. Anyone can improve their speed. Speed is based on running technique, leg strength(muscle) and balance.

No disgrace playing 2nds footy at Haileybuiry this year, given the number scholarships they've handed out the past year or so. They dominated the APS this year as a result.

He worked on his pace in the TAC before getting drafted and it was a concern then and the recruiters said so. Probably still working on it but he is still slow. Not a ruckman size but still not really mobile enough for a CHF.
The SANFL is a pretty low standard by all accounts with players like Daniel Schell (former AFL dud) dominating and kicking bags.

Would like him for cheap or free but as far as trading something significant no way. Let other clubs think he is the next gun and get carried away. If he was any good he would have gotten more opportunities for Adelaide.

Pick 14 ,2 years ago. Played 5 games in 2004 and no games in 2005.
