You know as soon as i posted,
Jimmy jumped in there,
'82 he was a beast.

He gave a coathanger (no report),
in the middle of the G,
late in the year,
at Malthouse,
bang!

He made a stand.

More like a forearm jolt. Left MM with about 7 lips. Mick was tough, but Jimmy was a WMD.

And i loved that bloke as well.

Got his head belted every week,
after Matthews (3) made it open season,
he had to go forward.

We have had the stars haven't we!!

Took one J. Hird to push him out of my top 3 of all time. Still feel a bit ordinary about it and wonder how much it has to do with my fading memories.

1. Judd. Hard to go past him.
2. Walker - excitement machine underrated by opposition fans and even Carlton fans. ;)

I had huge arguments with impatient Carlton fans on other sites who wanted Mclean or even Sylvia with pick two in the 2003 draft. They laughed when I said he would push forward to outmark other midfielders in games, yet he did just that against the Dogs last year and kicked the goal when we won by a kick.

The clowns have probably quietened down a bit since.

AW bleeds Navy Blue and chases tackles, attacks contests and spoils like his life depends on it.

Other supporters would love him if he was playing for their side.

Kreuzer, Judd, Gibbs, Walker and Murphy will kill it when they play together.

I can see Walker playing a Stenglein role in the middle, but he would be more attacking and kick more goals.

1. Matthews
2. Doull
3. Hird

3 annoys me.

The best was Matthews,
5'11 - shoulda been a flanker,
skilled as a bugger,
hit like a Sharmans boxer,
won everything, bar a brownlow.
played like a brute,
and made Hawthorn, into Hawthorn.

Hated the bloke, but tongue out,
people were waylaid, was a monster near the white pointy bits.

Wrecked us for a few years,
'cos they thought we couldn't fight.

Still hated by us, for his priors,
which counts as respect i suppose.

Jordan Russell would be one for me, simply because so much vitriol gets spewed in his direction that I am prepared to be one of the few to be on his side and to see him do well. :)

I dunno about the other, I guess Number 30 holds a bit of a special place for me at Carlton so I will go with JW. I do like the way he goes about the game in any case.

As you can see, I am really not a "favourite player" type of supporter. :p
