I thinks after this seris everyone wants some change on the selectors panel so who would you have in your panel?

Mine would be

Greg Chappel
Steve Waugh
Mark Taylor
Shane Warne
Tom Moody
Darren Lehman

All have great cricketing brains and I hav no doubt they would not hesitate in picking youth and form over reputation

Anyone would be better than the current mob.... I'm convinced this is how they are picking the squads at present

I wouldn't mind if we poached Andy Flower as coach / selector. Seems like a hard nut with a good brain.

Justin Langer might go alright too.

M Waugh - laconic style might be useful.

S Waugh / G McGrath / S Warne / M Taylor could have a seat too if they wanted to put in the hours.

G Chappell and Lehmann don't make it on my panel.

Stephen Fleming was a great captain for NZ but not sure he'd be interested in being an Australian selector.

Hmm, hard question. Mine would be:

Ian Chappell
Damien Fleming
Rod Marsh
Australian Captain at the time


I can't think of a forth I would want but I feel the captain needs a say as it isd his team he needs to lead. I think the strong personalities of these three would help in that they wouldn't bow to external pressure but I think all three are willing to admit they are wrong and make changes when required.

Well for starters you need guys who watch a lot of domestic cricket and are interested.

I think Allan Border would be an excellent choice and Mark Waugh has a good eye. Darren Lehmann was an astute player and captain and I would add a former bowler of some description. I am not sure who at the moment but Stuart Clark when he retires would be a good choice.

I also think Tom Moody would be a good selector but four is enough.

For the amount of money the 3 selectors (Chappell not included) get I can get better quite easily.

Selection process:
1. Go to shield match
2. Find spectator
3. After spectator find who is not relative of anyone playing appoint them.
4. Go to pub.

if only for the fact he is being viewed as a future australian coach.

I wouldn't have Taylor, he's not up to it.
I wouldn't waste warne as a selector, he'd be a talent identifier.

I'm not convinced about having Chappell on the selection panel. He was a tremendous player in his time, and has had some success in an administrative capacity. But he is 62. Does he really have the interest and motivation to travel the country and keep an eye on all the developing talent? Is he really in touch with the demands on the "modern cricketer"?
