Thought in the spirit of the Big Bash I'd see the World XIs y'all would select for the shortest format.

Here's my attempt, flame away...

Chris Gayle
David Warner
Virat Kohli
Shane Watson
MS Dhoni (c) (+)
Keiron Pollard
Shakib Al Hasan
Mitchell Starc
Dale Steyn
Lasith Malinga
Saeed Ajmal
12th - Marlon Samuels

Really wanted to squeeze Mike Hussey in but felt Al Hasan was a must for a second genuine spinning option.

Replace Steyn with Nannes, and Dhoni with Prior or Wade, and hard to fault that.

Nannes a year and a half ago, maybe. Still would be fairly close but isn't as consistent as he used to be.

Prior or Wade before Dhoni? You crazy. MS is the best option for keeper by a mile.

Not sure why you'd include Johnson and (to a lesser extent) Misbah in this team to pull the piss. Misbah is slow but has a really good average, and Johnson is a good limited overs player.

would replace marsh with gayle at the moment more reliable great T20 player

yer at the moment i would gayles been pretty bad at the moment so would have

Warner
S.Marsh
Kohli
Watson
Pollard
Dohni
Shakib
Christian
Starc
Melinga
ajmal
Tweth Man: Samuels
Pretty much agree with your team bar gayle

Christian? Ew. Shouldn't even make the Australian team.

And Gayle is in bad form, but you'd be crazy to leave him out.

Fonsey Thomas is apprently one of the best T/20 bowlers. Showed it the other night to.

I lump he and Rana Naved into the same category. Elite T20 specialists, but wouldn't get a look in for a World XI.

For the bowlers I tried to pick ones that are very expensive rather than how quick they score

Hey, Johnson's economy in T20 is 7.14. Nothing wrong with that!
I don't think people realise just how good Mitch has been in limited overs games for Australia. Only last year before his injury he was still the number one ranked bowler in the world (or certainly top 3) in one dayers.

And yeah thorne89, I'd have Marsh in there over Gayle atm. Gayle looks hideously out of form and touch.

Based on crowd figures; yes. I like the format...but prefer domestic comps over Internationals.
Each to their own. I prefer Tests then daylight then ODI's and am happy to watch Twenty20 if it's on but am not overly impressed by the constant slogging. Much prefer to watch someone like Punter in Twenty20 who will hit big but still display classy batting

I reckon you'd like watching Shaun Marsh in T20s then. Plays pure cricket shots, great to watch.

Batting order is a bit odd, and with the bowling maybe swap Starc with Umar Gul and Menids for Narine or Ajmal

Batting order is a little odd, but I stand by it. Watson and Gayle are the two best T20 batsman in the world and must open. Hussey has the best average out of any batsman inT20 to have scored a decent amount of runs and he had and outstanding World Cup batting at three. McCullum at four is slightly odd but he has made bucket loads in T20 so I had to fit him in there, he is a versatile batsman so he could no doubt bat at four. Warner is also a bit strange at five, but several people have had Watson at four with Warner opening, I just think that Warner is more suited (out of the two of them) to coming in and hitting when the field is back and Watson is suited to opening in T20. Kohli at six is fine IMO, likewise Shakib.

Starc has an excellent T20 record, better than Gul and I back Starc to hit his yorkers. I knew Ajantha would turn some heads, but he also has an impeccable T20 record, economy rate and average which is better than Ajmal's and Narine's. He is easy to play in the longer forms when you can just milk off his bowling, but when you have to go hard against him, his mystery style of bowling is really hard to read.

Not entirely convinced; if Warner plays, he must open. There would be better middle order players available than him to slot in there otherwise. I don't see the value of Kohli at 6 either.

Warner is one I'd be happy to take out but I'd say it's a similar situation to your team with Watson at four, he's the best T20 opener in the world so I think he must open. Kohli can come in at six and hit the gaps straight away and can play either the power game, or he can get bat on ball to give the power batsman the strike.
There is no way Pollard misses out. Would replace Shakib with him.
I'm going mainly on international T20 and Pollard has done very little for the West Indies at T20 level. Been very ordinary for someone with his talent. I wouldn't be against bringing him in for Warner though.
