Granted that I have a limited supply of articles to read about the Doggies so I'm not sure how much this idea continues to proliferate, but I was quite amazed to read this sentence in the Online Age :

It was a pleasure to watch the youthful Bulldogs take on the Lions toe to toe, backing their running skills and not producing any of the scragging tactics of past Bulldogs sides.

Where has this writer been the past six years or so? God, it makes me mad when I read crap like that!

I know I'm getting a bit long in the tooth, but even I seem to remember a few skillful running players on our team in the past few years!

I know I'm getting a bit long in the tooth, but even I seem to remember a few skillful running players on our team in the past few years!

Unfortunately both Melbourne papers syndicated the reports from their Brisbane sisters. Both papers had Brisbane-centric reports that sounded like they were written by a thugby league jounro.

I'm also sick of these so called journalists, who get paid a reasonable sum, who resort to generalising on ill founded rhetoric instead of actually learning about the modern reality. Mathew Campbell is another and that jerk from Fox Footy's young ones is another.

So what is the common denominator with these people who accuse us of scragging;

a) lack of knowlege about the Western Bulldogs

b) Too afaid to state their own opinion for fear of it being contrary to popular belief

c) all of the above

I would say C for these people

We haven't scragged for years.

One or two have played tight over recent years but the team has generally been an attacking unit under WALLACE except for a few matched where we have flooded, which is not scragging. E
