Sorry guys to intrude on your board but just want to know your thoughts on your young players.

Most of them are good players and will turn into great players in the future but i just thought tonight at crutial times they cracked under the pressure which is a little bit understandable considering there age but... what do you think of the likes of Suban, Ibbotson, De Boer, Hill, Hinkley and Broughton? more importanly how did you rate there games tonight against one of the best sides?

This is not a troll at all because i love Hill, Suban and Ibbotson and the way they go about it but i just thought tonight they were a bit down, especially ibbotson.

Congrats on your effort tonight i thought you guys put up a fantastic fight it was good to watch.:thumbsu:

I thought every single one of the kids had extremely poor nights. Turned over the ball, shriked contests, dropped marks. Definately a day to forget for the youngsters. A chance for a couple to really help and lead the team like Hill has the last couple, but didnt accept the opportunity.

im glad you said that because they did let your side down but as i said they are young and are very bound to be a tad inconsistant. I was just really edging on you guys because every loss to hawthorn is lovely to witness;)

I saw signs from Broughton and De Boer but Hinkley doesn't show me much? just me or do you guys think Hinkley will be a good player?

To be honest it was blokes like McPharlin, Thornton, and Mundy that went missing. Really needed them to step up while we were behind. Pav, Sandilands and Hasleby made the effort, but the next rung down squibbed it.

I think that none of them had great nights but I think that, while a player develops, they are going to have poor nights.

We cannot forget that this was a hyped up occasion over West, leading to a pressure-cooker atmosphere. Add to that that we were playing the reigning premiers, and it is no wonder that guys with 7 (Hill), 7 (Suban), 1 (Broughton), 3 (de Boer), 10 (Hinkley) and 20-odd (Ibbo) games' experience may have an off or nervous night.

Add to those guys both Palmer and Mayne, and I have a lot of faith in the club's future.

Tonight was the first time ive seen Suban play.

His disposal was very average. I think only 2 of his 8 touches were effective and that shot for goal in the last was terrible.

Having not seen him before is his ball use normally that poor?

Broughton looks a player though :thumbsu:

Mundy was pea hearted.
Wanted to smack him in the mouth

McPharlin was pretty pea hearted too. And Thornton was back to bad habits.

Mundy squibbed so hard it was ridiculous.

Peake wasn't much chop either, but at least when he got the ball he took the game on and generally made good decisions.

Suban is usually a much better disposer of the ball, he just had an off night.

Hasleby stepped up in the second quarter.

Hayden was better than Mundy.

Stop defending your boyfriend - he was shit. Just admit it.
Stop bashing on a player just because you don't like him. Yes, he was missing, but so were half the team in the second quarter - if you didn't notice we had a few goals put on us. Just because he didn't get any of the ball, doesn't mean he's a ****ing squib. Pathetic, no supporter should ever say their own players are squibs unless they don't support the club.

They had a dip.
He was shitful and had no guts.

Beige.
Rob Wiley said he should be dropped
Ok, so how do you know he had no guts? Where are you concrete pieces of evidence that show he didn't dive in at the football and go 100%. I'd like to see this, because at the moment you are just a big fat gasbag.

I wasn't impressed with Suban tonight. His aggression is great, but his disposal left a lot to be desired. He needs to be a lot smarter with the ball and actually think about where he should kick it. He tends to just throw it on the boot without actually looking up. But, his tackling is great. And it's great to see a first year player being so vocal, particularly to the umpires.

And don't worry about Hinkley, he will be a very good player. He just hasn't been given enough game time in the last month, I don't know the actual stats but I would be surprised if he ever played more than 60%. And when he does play, he has been up forward more often than not. Put him on a wing and let him run, and we will see the best of him. The one thing Clayton has to do though, is to be a lot more selfish inside the forward 50. Too often he looks to handball it off, rather than kick the goal himself.

As for the others, we all know how good Hill is. He had an off game, but he still did some very good things. Broughton is a solid player, who knows his game very well. And DeBoer has the makings of a very good tagger, I particularly liked seeing him talking to Bateman in the third quarter.

I do like Mundy. He has poise and talent when he's got the ball. Unfortunately, all too often in harder games he goes missing and avoids contests.

He's not the only one, but it's a pattern that is strong to his game.

He went sliding in in the second quarter and almost decapitated a Hawks player going in hard for the ball.

I'm sorry? Did you just say"give me a red card"?

Well, that's great - almost McManus like (in that he didn't win the contest and almost gave away a free)

He also dropped a piss easy mark in the last. He played a crab game. He is at the age where he should step up when needed.

Bradesmen, you only seem to have come on this thread to defend Mundy and you have done it by questioning other players. That's not really a defence, that is "did not' "did to' kind of argument. Mundy is very skillful but does go missing and could be harder. No doubt about that.
