Keepvid is great, have been using it for ages until I discovered a nifty little program aptly named "YouTube Downloader". Verified by Cnet so it's all good safety-wise.

Pretty much you just paste in the web address and it downloads, you can choose what quality you want it in (including HD ) but the best thing is that it can convert from MP4 to various other formats including WMV whilst offline!

Only annoying part is that videos that were in 16:9 widescreen ratio get squashed into 4:3 when converted but apart from that it works great.
