TPP is moving from $17.5m (2025) to $18.9m(2027)

We will be under the cap in 2026 and can go over 5% in 2027 so...

$7m up front + $10m over 7 years

In 2026 - players like Saad, Williams, Haynes, Newman contracts expire
The situation us actually the reverse of what you're putting forward.

You almost certainly can't afford $7m in yr 1 so can't offer that contract.

Port can definitely match that by putting the $7m in the last year of the contract to force a trade.

Adding money makes it harder for you and changes nothing for Port.

Port offered (reportedly) the same offer for NAS as we have Butters ($1.7 million per year for 8 years). Delisted/retired a heaps of experienced players whose cost doesn’t reflect performance, have 3 players 28+ on the entire list which is generally where players get their big pay, don’t index contracts to the salary cap so we get the full amount of the increase to use year on year and people still don’t think we’ll be able to match.

If he chooses to leave Butters will let Port know early imo. He’ll let Port know who the clubs are, and negotiations will begin. Port won’t screw Butters over, Butters won’t screw Port over and his nominated club won’t screw him over because it doesn’t benefit anyone.

I think quietly he probably already has but the club needs to "get the Carr started"

A strong start is worth more than the picks and i think port end up getting both

He's going.

Rumour has it Geelong have already finalised the 4 houses and 5 blocks of land to give Butters behind closed doors. Also some how freed up 20 million for a 10 year deal.
