Generally not a Ross critic like many, but he simply has to get creative with Clarke, he's had a good 6 year chunk showing us he aint a KF's arseh*le.

He can run like a midfielder so lets use it - play him like Blicavs for periods (3man up, blocking their best mid etc). Will sure as shit shake up our around ground clearances, which have plan Fyfe only atm.

Or as a roaming winger when not rucking, like Richo used to. Will actually make him run, and will throw opp into dissaray - they cant play their normal runners on him, which means they have to change THEIR structure.

Deboer, Suban out.
Blakeley, Crozier in.

Both outs are anonymous. I think the two ins would give it a red hot crack and get more than 12 possies in the midfield. I could be wrong but trying the same thing over and over hoping for a different result......

Ballas, Mayne out.
Tabs, Duffy in.

Ballas, my man needs a rest in the 2s. Mayne has great effort but no ability to read the play... he's like a shark fighting dolphins

Zaarke out.
Griff in.

Griff is heart and soul stuff... Zak needs a month in the 2s

Sigh, here we go again. Zarke getting smashed for not being a great key forward having spent most of his time there. He´s a ruckman. Sandi´s pretty ordinary down forward also.

We will be in a massive hole if Sandi retires and Zac is gone. Who fills the gap?

In fact we will probably end up doing better with Zac as the No 1 ruckman. Observe the way the Hawks smashed us on the weekend at clearances. They wait for our mids to get first hands to the ball, then constantly stripped us and were away. Its so predictable in the middle with Sandi dominating hitouts, especially against the top teams. He only ever makes a difference against crappy disorganised teams (and Geelong).

Ross Lyon needs to bite the bullet. Put Clarke in the ruck 80% of the time and Sandi Forward 80% of the time. Try something different so that it is not so bloody predictable in the middle. Clarke is pretty decent around the ground.

100% agreed, Zac will be great first ruck. But the fact is we are not going to remove Sandi from the 70% ruck role until he retires.

Zac the 70 fwd/ 30 ruck is proven near useless against the best teams. So why play him there? Definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

At least TRY something. There is a long list of flaky talls like Stef Martin, Westhoff, Sam Reid, Jesse White who have found something in altered roles. White earned a massive offer at the Pies playing as tall winger/link up in his last half year at the Swans - goes back to traditional fwd role at the Pies - and returns to uselessness.

As much as his posts grind, I'm beginning to come round to clogged's perspective (only a little..). Try SOMETHING!

Don't disagree with your sentiment here, but I have to pull you up and clogged for that matter for trotting out this little beauty, that is complete and utter nonsense. It's actually the definition of perseverance, which is an admirable quality to most people in most walks of life.

As I say, not disagreeing with your sentiment but that line in itself is a bunch of horseshit.

The quote itself has been misattributed to Einstein, who never actually said it. It is a quote relating to science and expecting to perform the same controlled experiment to achieve differing results, doesn't really apply to sports.

Clarke showed glimpses early on in the year of being a more than capable 3rd tall, just needs to rediscover this form and continue to improve, he has always been fairly inconsistent but KPP's take time and patience.

Perseverance of what?

We're not talking about honing a skill or learning a new subject. We're talking about playing the same experienced players, in the same roles, year after year, and expecting improvement. De Boer and Suban (among others) are no better players than they were two-three years ago and yet are still automatic call ups for a side that has fallen short every year they have played. It's nuts. Nothing is being learned or being gained. There is nothing admirable about it.

And I never attributed it to Einstein.

Persevering with Clarke as a forward/2nd ruck. There are plenty of other threads for you to vent your spleen about making no changes since 2013, De Boer and Suban.

Everyone can see has has some skills and great potential.

I just want to see him rip someones freaking head off and look like he wants it more. It just seems like, if he gets it good, if not, you can have it. Unfortunately you can't teach that. I never had it and it's why I'm sitting here typing this message, amongst other reasons.

It's frustrating waiting for ruckmen to come along. Moller must be 5-7 years off still.

I'm not sure why you tagged me in this thread then. I have no problems Clarke being played forward. He was playing fine while Taberner was in the side.

My view remains that Freo's problem is fringe mids with poor skills and no football sense, and some of the leaders in the midfield aren't as good as we like to think. Whinging about Clarke, Taberner or Pav is secondary.

I think clogged has hit the nail on the head, we were playing our best football when Tabs was in the team, but because he is the new kid on the block.
instead of Lyon building him up. is the scapegoat. The old setup of 2013 doesn't work, didn't then, wont now.

I don't disagree. Tabs is a must.

Cool. I'll go easy then. No real need to have a crack at my username champ, read up on Dockers history and have a look at our injury list circa August 2011.

I have pulled up clogged purely on his silly quote that is now being parroted about the place like gospel. I was actually addressing the misguidance of the quote being used by a different poster, in regards to Zarke. I agree wholeheartedly with clogged and his sentiments on Zarke. However we do disagree a fair bit on selection and gameplan overall, which I've addressed in the relevant threads.

Not sure what you are getting at really? Can't speak for him but although we disagree on some things he is a knowledgable, passionate freo poster and I actually really enjoy his banter.

Clogged is good you are not bad either. Will staye out of it now.

I'm not sure if it's been said or not, but if we had a second tall forward Clark would be our third tall ( like most other genuine second / resting rucks ). I think this would help.

FWIW didnt get quote from clogged, lifting lines is not my bag.

Regardless, fail to see how the basic premise is 'silly', and not sure why you'd be so ticked over a sentence on BF ... I'm sure there are academia forums where you could go balls deep ... relax

My bad, figured cos you mentioned you were coming around to clogged's way of thinking and used his quote you were quoting him.

And did help earlier in the season when Clarke was the third tall to Taberner. Dropping Taberner is the worst thing we could have done.
