Went to Harvey Norman today and found another MP3 called the Zen Micro. They both have FM radio and recording. Is either one better for radio coverage and when you record on radio what format does it record in.

Any opinions would be great! :)

Harvey Norman isnt a great shop. I am very happy with my iRiver and I'd recommend any iRiver product to anyone but the creative zens are good too, can't really go wrong (unless you buy an iPod)

Yep, don't go to Hardly Normal. Rip off merchants and clueless at most things.

Surely JB Hifi has made it to Bendigo?

EDIT: I checked, they aren't.

I actually bought mine Brand New from Ebay and received it 36 hours after I paid.

What's the issue with iPods?

I've been thinking of getting a Zen Micro for a while, but couldn't justify it when i saw the price they were released at (in the $400 range).

Now they're $50 or so cheaper i think, so i might splash out soonish. Good little gadget.

My iRiver stuffed up after a week (system files missing) and I haven't been able to get it to work since.
perhaps you accidentally deleted them when you were deleting music/video off it? its very easy to do

Irivers are very good. I have a H340, which I think was discountinued recently, but you could probably still get it somewhere. Fourty gig, plus you can play videos on it, FM radio (allows you to record straight off radio), recording feature (inc a microphone), 256,000 colour screen etc. Only prob is that it is a little more difficult to organise music on it. A little bulky, but I like what it does.

The new H10 (etc) are very good also. My bro bought one, and it nearly does everything that mine does (minus video, and it is 6gb IIRC). Nice mp3 players. I would recommend Iriver over Ipod anyway.

The Zen Micros are supposed to be very good also, but I haven't used one. I've only read stuff on the Internet about them, but from all reports they are a worthwhile purchase.

In the end it comes down to what you want to use it for. Do a little research on the net.

I'd like to know how?!

Im not sure what iRiver you have but.

For system restore on the 20GB:

Try this:

PROCEDURE TO RESTORE "SYSTEM FILES MISSING" LOCKED PLAYER

--- This applies ONLY to the 20 gig version of the H10! ---

--- This procedure formats your H10 so all data will be erased on the player! ---

1. Power off H10 - 20gig unit.

2. Insert staple or other small object into reset hole to press reset button.

3. Connect player to USB cable.

3. Hold down Select key (labeled "O" - right button on front of player) while also holding down power key until player boots.

4. Unit must display "Emergency Connection."

5. Unit will now appear as a drive under My Computer. Right click on drive, select Format. No need to change anything, just proceed.

6. Download H10_20GB_System.exe. It is a self-extracting archive. Double click on it and unzip to c:\iriver.

http://www.iriveramerica.com/downlo...20GB_System.exe

7. Locate iriver directory, double click. You will see H10. Double click once again; you will see System.

8. Right click on system, select "Send to" and choose the directory of the player.

Unit should then reset itself (allow at least 10 seconds for reset procedure to complete.) You may need to power the unit off and on after the transfer is complete. Disconnect USB cable. Player should now boot to the main menu. Choose settings, date and time, and verify that the day and time are correct.

This should fix the problem. If not, call iRiver tech support. I suggest you keep a copy of these instructions and file in case the problem occurs again.

Watch what you say: re "wogs"...
I have an iPod, and got it to play music. It does that, and does it very well. I have no issues with mine.
