There were strong rumours early this year that Seven was circling Before the Game - interested in scheduling it as a lead-in to its Saturday evening game telecasts. Seven poached former Before the Game panellist Samantha Lane.

It is believed that Dave Hughes and Mick Molloy could be part of a version of Before the Game if it was to be resurrected at another network.
The decision to axe Before the Game comes days after Hughes stepped down as one of the presenters of Ten's The Project.

Well "Before the Game" is owned not by Network 10 but by Roving Enterprises (who also own The Project). So moving the whole show across to Channel 7 would be quite easy and certainly help 7 with their "AFL light entertainment" problems.

Personally I'd love to see btg return to its origins as after the game, airing after saturday night football with slightly more mature content.

I am pretty sure that the footy show outrates BTG 3:1, so most popular is not exactly correct.

Herald-Sun sells more papers than The Age.

The Age still has better footy writers.

Why does The Footy Show exist?

The Bogan Show with Brayshaw is intolerable.

Hope they re-consider. They brought back Marngrook after it was axed.

Great show. Before the Game should move to Channel 7, and replace the tedious Saturday Night Footy pre game show.

It will save viewers a whole hour of BT's s**t.

It's an okay show I think. Molloy and Lehmo are idiots, but I love Hughesy and Fitzy. And Neroli is much better than Sam Lane. Channel 10 should just die really.

I guess Ten couldn't justify keeping the show afloat when it only rated well in one market. Pity, it was quite a funny show (far better than the puerile trash that The Footy Show has become in the past 5 years). Ten can look forward to getting sub 10% shares in Melbourne every Saturday during AFL season.

Thought Neroli Meadows was a big improvement on Lane too.

The only downside was Lehmo. Having a Hawthorn tragic on any panel drags the standard down.

Hope 7 pick it up.

If anything with seven and nine obsessed with hour long news bulletins (even on weekends now) the entire pre-game show on Saturday Night would come under question.
