You don't stop going for the *en thing just in case you think you heard a whistle. The opposition doesn't stop going for it. Even if the opposition know it's a free kick to your team, they'll continue to try and tackle you to stop a play on advantage. How is Jones supposed to know for sure it's a free kick to his team and he should stop competing give it back to his team mate?
