Essendon v West Coast, Etihad 4.40pm

Eagles fans complaining about free kicks.

1 goal in 40 metres. Hill marks it outside the fifty with more bomber defenders in the 50 than west coast forwards. Of course that free was what cost them the game.

If only the free was not given I am sure the Eagles would have kicked 6 goals more in those 40 minutes.

Just needed one more.

.

Pretty despicable behaviour by most of the posters in this thread. We just saw a great finish and all other people want to do is call Essendon drug cheats. ******* disgraceful.

Aren't they?

Eagles fans
Wow.

These ridicilous decisions are becoming a trend against the WCE, whether critical match changing ones or deciding to apply an unkonwn rule just for the eagles and just this once for the season.

Our club needs the give the AFL a spray but they don't seem to care, can't blame the umps if you aren't calling them to account for it.

Did you start following the AFL this week? Would suggest you've had a good run at the Eagles.

I didn't have much against Essendon before reading this thread, but after reading your supporter's comments, I hope the ASADA/drug cheating saga pain continues for years to come. I hope James Hird coming back ends up digging you a deeper hole than you're already in and you end up resenting your favourite son if not already. Enjoy your overly fortunate win as you do not have a bright future. We do :)

Don't waste your effort, they are actually in full support of their team doping.

Either way, they beat us today!

Well... that's the best game of footy I've seen this year. By a mile. (and I was saying that halfway through the 3rd quarter by the way)

And to the West Coast supporters complaining about the umpiring? Bwahahahahaha! Taste your own medicine mother******s. (and the umpiring was excellent apart from that one late decision)

Anyway, great game. Bad luck Eagles. In a game of two halves, I reckon your 1st half was better than our 2nd... but we snuck over the line.

Go Bombers!

We did what we would have planned to do, take advantage of the talls and get an early lead. In the end I think we knew the Bombers would finish stronger, we just didn't quite have the break on them we needed, and couldn't manufacture a goal in the last.

Simpson is still learning a lot about the list. We probably went in too tall today but didn't have a lot of smalls to bring in.

Should have made more of the first quarter dominance. Should have beaten one of Port, Freo, Carlton or Collingwood earlier in the year... Should have done a lot of things this year and we wouldn't have needed a win today.

Oh well.

I am always of the view, even during painful losses like this, that if you're good enough you will (a) build a big lead enough to withstand a couple of controversial decisions, and (b) be able to do better in retaining aforementioned lead.

It's pointless blaming umps.

A couple, yes.

The Josh Hill free was a shocker, and anyone who blames that for the loss is a fool We should've done better to that point.

It's frustrating when an Eagle is tackled and holding the ball is paid then 5 minutes later the same happens to Goddard and it's play on. It's frustrating when a free kick is paid in the forward pocket, advantage is paid and Chapman kicks an easy goal then when a free kick is paid to WC on half back and Sheed sets off through the middle play is called back. Etc.

It's magnified on TV by the fact you see every contest and you have two rabid idiots screaming for a free kick to be paid to one side and gleefully saying things like 'oooh, bit of a jumper grab there on Shuey.' You can guarantee had Hill's mark been paid and we won the game from it they would still be going over the replay now. Had the teams been reversed they would be calling for a Royal Commission. At the game you can only see so much and all you can hear is the crowd. This plays a huge role in why people complain about umpiring etc. watching the game at home.

In NRL they give the umpires a weeks rest when they make blunders.
Let's see what the AFL do.

Their golden sons won again.
Lol

Yep, between the ASADA thing, kicked out of finals, Hirdy bant, and the current court case keeping the name "AFL" up in lights, I'm sure we're still (if we ever even were) their favourites, and they're falling over themselves to influence games to our benefit. I heard they're going to give us $1million extra in the salary cap too, to compensate our players for the stresses of being in the headlines so often these last couple of years...

Been happening since the mid 2000's, this coughing up big leads and blowing away dominance.
