Peter Swales was a local, and a fan. Franny Lee was local-ish, an ex player and still a fan today. John Wardle was a local and a fan.
Nah, I'll stick with what they do, not where they're born.
And how do you think the elite clubs were able to do that before City were on the scene?Of course you will. You only started competing with the elite clubs when you were able to start outbidding every other team in the nation.
The snide holier-than-thou bs aside
Our club was literally a bee's dick from administration and was nearly bled dry by some owners at the time, not comparing but I know I know you're gonna say good riddance we've been through worse or something so that justifies you acting like a gigantic butthole but do go on
Ask Birmingham or Wigan fans whether they'd rather just surviving than watch their team won the trophies that they won the last few years, you'll get only one answer and it ain't your version. If you have a choice to pick between that or just, ya know, surviving, and you choose the latter, then really you must hate Christmas as well
Btw, foreigners or their "playthings" have nothing to do with the way a club's run, we had English owners with Underwood decades ago, they pumped out the cash that you hate so much, it ain't foreigners, it's reality. Money talks. Man Utd became a PLC and floated their stocks on the market back in 1990 and they made tons from that and it's set their club up ever since. They didn't have foreign owners at the time. It was the smart thing to do and it made them loads of cash
The whole "foreign owners" thing just makes you look really reeeeeally xenophobic at best and racist at worst. You should stop yelling at every random thing, come down to the real world and learn how capitalism works
Club is in a far better state now than it was six years ago. Thats the only thing I rate owners on, certainly not their passports.
Administration is nothing like disappearing forever.
Look at those dogs Palace. They've treated administration like a way to clear their debts and rip off their creditors twice.
I said be secure, not survive, can't read? I'd rather have a safe secure club than be a Leeds like basket case.
Do you always try and shut peoples opinions down by using the race card?I feel like this is how it feels to have a conversation with Donald Trump about Mexicans

I wouldn't say it's out of order to suggest you'd rather have your club run by a local businessman than say a foreign consortium. Labelling such thoughts as racist or xenophobic isn't really helpful
Well **** really? One would hope with all those billions you would be...
Amusingly enough, on both occasions they went into administration they were owned by local businessmen who were fans of the club.
Yup.
And they went broke spending too much trying to be relevant. Trying to compete and remain relevant with foreginers with deeper pockets than any local owners can match.

It's more the massive amounts of play money the foreigners have brought into the EPL that has created a system where now clubs are siply pried out of the market to be competitive. It's also seen more greed than ever creep into the league.
Moomba doesn't have any scruples about money/owners etc as long as it benefits Man City the most. He had made this abundantly clear in the FFP thread

Absolutely. Mercenary of the highest order.
The fact that one would have to be English to make it xenophobic escapes him.
The fact that white caucasians are many of the foreign owners escapes him.
It's them foreigners, bringing money to the game, not because club owners even back in the 80s (whom btw were very British as I recall) just wanted to make more money from TV rights sponsorship and revenue, which was why the EPL was formed in the first place. It had nothing to do with foreigners, just good ol' fashion natural progression, it happens with every sport
To specifically say the foreigners is a big cause of all this and they generally make bad owners because they're "foreign" and not local and not supporting the club, is just idiocy. How do you go about explaining something so ridiculous other than there must be some deeper lying prejudice going on? Ain't playing the race card, just good ol' fashion logic
Logic says that greed runs the EPL. It's why it was formed. And it was only 5-6 greedy clubs who pushed for its formation. Those which benefit most from it. Funnily enough the same clubs who benefit from it now. Man City aside, they bought their way into that group.
