It is because we play dirty. Case in point - 2011 PF - last quarter - Gibson sticks his neck into Cloke's hands, preventing him from marking the ball. Umpires recognise this and allow Davis to goal.

I remember us being embarrassed by the Pies in their dominant 10/11 period - mostly because we couldn't stop Cloke or even Dawes. But our defence strengthened, theirs weakened (they could never hold Bud or Rough) and their refusal to lockdown on any of our mids killed them. Now we feel as though we will always run over them, no matter how the game has started.

Always felt they rely too much on Cloke and have a few stars but don't run that deep. Our more even team performance means we've been able to push Cloke up the ground and whilst their stars get a bit of the footy, they don't damage us the way they do other teams. Also felt their small to medium defenders really struggle against quality forwards so guys like Rioli and Bruest have also done well on Shaw, Harry O/L, etc.

Only just though. I was surprised how plucky they were, right to the death. I was expecting the usual from them: competitive for 2-3 quarters, with us pulling away and winning quite comfortably in the end.

Bucks had them so close to beating us on the weekend, he coached them really well, when he came aboard he cut the list down to the bone and it's starting to pay dividends.

M8....They had 2 days extra break, while we were also dealt the Roughy/Frawley blows....They'll never get a better chance than that again.

Agree their midfield has been left to too few for too long, when they come up against a team that bats deep through the middle they have struggled.

They are doing a lot better with the loss of Beams than I thought they would as he was one of the few other than Pendels and Swanny that actually did much

Nope. They were always shite. When players like Dwyer and Blair get AFL games it really says something.

Overachieved due to easy draw. When it mattered against the big boys they lost all 4 in a row. No finals next year I think.
