Essendon, Richmond and Gold Coast above Collingwood on the ladder?

How do you figure that?

and a massive lol at some of the people in this thread who put North Melbourne above us. Especially by 4 or more places.

Pleased to see most people putting Melbourne and St Kilda in the top 8 though. They both definitely showed this year that they can hang with and beat top 8 and even top 4 sides. Inconsistency was there problem. Lost games they shouldn't have.

I'm a little surprised to see a few people that think Adelaide will finish 1st or 2nd. Adelaide better than Buldogs, GWS and the Swannies? Nope. They'll probably finish 4th or 5th though. We saw what difference no Sloane made to that mid-field. Compare their mid-field to Dogs, GWS and Sidney. There's no comparison.

GWS
So much improvement to come and lots of draft picks

SYDNEY
Youngish list. Still more improvement to come.

HAWTHORN
Will hopefully nail trade week, inject some great players. Still have a bunch of great older players playing on.

WEST COAST
Still have a good list age profile + wins at home.

WESTERN BULLDOGS
Harder draw, somewhat overachieved this year in an ultra close finals series. Still very hard to beat.

COLLINGWOOD
If they recruit older top ups, I expect them to do better in the short term.

ADELAIDE
Best forward line. Hard to beat. But question marks on Pyke's tactical expertise (as continually remarked on the ADELAIDE BF board)

FREMANTLE - Wild card if two or three kids show something + good trade period.

GEELONG
No soft draw in 2017

RICHMOND
-

PORT ADELAIDE
I don't even know

MELBOURNE
Continue to tease fans. Big upsets and big failures.

GOLD COAST
Fitness department will cause another season of injuries. Surely fool me three times shame on them.

ESSENDON
A year out for their best players.

ST KILDA
Not quite sold on Richo

NORTH MELBOURNE
Probably have them too low. Definitely bottom 4.

CARLTON
Overachieved this year with new coach, some pain ahead with an older list.

BRISBANE
Stop playing such young teams. Surely you want to win a bit.

Well the tradition continued of a Top 4 team from last season not making the 8 at all in Freo and a team that did not even make finals made Top 4 this season which we had 2 of in GWS and Cats.

Happens 90% of the time and has done for well over 20 odd years from memory!

Anyone want to take stab at next years?!!

Geelong to slide out of the 8 and Freo to take their place.

Thing is mate, we don't really get a choice. Were the youngest team in the year to begin with, had injuries to a majority of our senior bregade, then even more injuries to our reserves. One point of the year we only had 6 listed players in the reserves.

They had a 1 in 50 year no injury event and still couldn't get past the Semis.

Ah the ladder predictions thread. The thread in which you try to guess next year's results within days of the grand final. Supporters put their teams higher then they should be, put a team lower just cos you hate em, name the same team twice, Richmond 9th for lols and generally piss off a bunch of other supporters.

I love how you have an AFL team finishing second and a VFL team winning the premiership.

BRISBANE
Stop playing such young teams. Surely you want to win a bit.[/QUOTE]

Ohh, that's what we've been doing wrong. We've been playing all of our veterans in the NEAFL and giving the kids a run. We'll get all of our 0 thirty year olds in the team next year, and take all of our many many young players out of our AFL team. That should fix it!

I'll update this after the offseason, as a lot could change in that time.

1 GWS
- If they aren't on the top, I'll be shocked. Have oodles of talent, and will only get better.
2 Sydney- Sydney should rack up the wins required to get here- although not confident about this one.
3 Adelaide- Hope their mid stocks improve and this is definitely within reach.
4 Western Bulldogs- Don't expect them to suddenly jump to the top of the ladder. 4th seems about right, but September is a different beast.
5 St Kilda- Natural improvement should see them climb into the 8, but I can see them jumping beyond expectations.
6 Geelong- Need their second tier mids to step up. If Enright and Bartel retire, their second tier need to show something.
7 Hawthorn- They know how to win- Wouldn't even be surprised if they finished top 4. However they will struggle beyond next year, and will fade out of the 8 for a couple of years.
8 Melbourne- Was between them and the Eagles. Not expecting much from them in finals, will be good experience for the group.
9 West Coast- Will not struggle terribly, and should definitely be aiming for finals. I just don't see it.
10 Collingwood- Big expectations on Buckley... But he won't meet them. Should develop nicely however.
11 Port Adelaide- Have no idea what to expect from them, so middle of the road.
12 Essendon- I like to think that we will make finals... And depending on the draw we really could push for it. But I think this is our realistic expectation. 2018 will be finals.
13 Gold Coast- They aren't really THAT bad. They just lack depth... I think they will be up and about early like they were this year, but will fade a bit.
14 Carlton- Were ahead of schedule this year. When your top goal scorer is Matty Wright, you have work to do.
15 Fremantle- To be fair, I am probably being a little bit harsh... Had a terrible run with injuries this year, and could be around mid table at the end of the year. Need to land McCarthey.
16 Brisbane- Have some talent. We'all see what Fagan can do with them.
17 North Melbourne- Their youth isn't that good and they let go of Boomer. They will get what they deserve.
18 Richmond- I genuinely think that there is no direction at this club... They have to bottom out. Hardwick doesn't seem to be the man for the job.
