Over the uni break I watched the entire series of The Office and ******* loved it. Really sad it ended.

Yea going same route as true detective. Think we'll see a lot more single season shows with movie quality casts over the next few years with the success those two have had.

Which is great considering previously if a big named actor appeared on TV it was the death knell of their career.

Yeah I argued with Wahooti Fandango for years that the US version wasn't a patch on the original UK.

Then one day I finally got into the US one and grew to love it.

The trick is to accept that they're entirely different shows. Once I accepted that the US version was not intended to be a slow, mockumentary like the original and rather a very scripted sitcom (minus the canned laughter), I could appreciate it for what it was.

FWIW I think Jim and Pam are both better then Tim and Dawn, as individuals and a collective.

I also like the UK and US versions.

I was put off the US version for a while because the first 4 or so episodes suck. I gave it a second chance and I'm glad I did.

They're both really funny.

I'd be interested to see what the Idris Elba character would think of Tim as opposed to Jim.

I think he might have a slightly higher opinion of Tim, I dunno.

Definitely wouldn't feel as threatened by Tim.

Jim is essentially the alpha male, but he's too humble to take advantage of it.

Ehh... I've only seen up to Season 5, but I do find it interesting that Jim is effectively hopeless with responsibility and an inadequate leader.

Very good.

Billy Bob Thornton would be up there with John Lithgow as Arthur Mitchell in terms of memorable TV killers.

Just google how to use Netflix on Australia and it should be pretty straight forward. Took me like 10 mins to set up.

If you don't mind subtitles, I recommend the The Bridge (the original one). I've just got through the first season and it's fantastic.
