This medal really is a joke. Who seriously gives two shits what the umpires think? Why is this medal held in such high regard compared to players mvp or the coaches mvp?

The umpires at least watch every game,
No player would watch every game of footy and they are still susceptible to hype and the coaches mvp can be because every coach has a different metric to decide on performance.

Do you honestly think guys like Clarkson, Roos, Malthouse really give 2 shits about the coaches MVP? It's rumoured that a few senior coaches let others in the box scribble down the top 5 rather than do it themselves.
The players MVP is a year vote, not a round-by-round, hardly a good indicator when the football world has the memory of a goldfish.

Or we could accept that all the awards obviously have some prestige looking back at past winners, and if anyone dares to win all 3 in a season they will be undoubtedly the best.
