Perhaps Newton is out of contract and delisted himself, could be a reason why, although I'm just having a guess here

Article said that Newton was offered a contract but has chosen to go to the draft due to a lack of opportunity at Port. His decision it would seem

Theres no doubt someone has agreed to pickup Newton. Most likely us or Freo? Im not sure a young player battling to make his way would roll the dice on his career and turn down a contract. He`s already been deleted from their website list. Anyone know much about him??

11. Pickett or if not there Weller then Goddard
32. Menadue or if not there Miller
51. Rainbow or if not there Cripps (if there's some miracle and he's there then Keitel before Cripps)
69. Cripps or if not there Dan Howe

Now for the rookie draft.
Cadwallader.

Port fans saying Newton is quite slow, but a decent inside mid similar to Hutchings. not what we need.

I think we are all brushing over the fact that old mate Lewis Stevenson was delisted.
Was easily our best defender in our SANFL side this year. Was solid last year in the AFL. AFL standard but only just.

Any one know much on Newton?
Big body, clearance machine, can rack up possessions and kick goals. Decent decision maker. He's just a bit slow when he runs. I think he'll make it wherever he goes - I know yourselves, Geelong and Freo have shown interest.

Would be happy with

Pick 11 - Speedy skilful mid
Pick 32 - KP slider / utility
Pick 51 - best available

+DFA - (Newton/ Lucas whoever)
+ Waterman
+ Sinclair upgrade

Rookie pick - Project ruck

Even though weve seen 4 med backs delisted, I think if either Adamson or the BROphy make it, it will be as backman. And our current stocks are still ok after adding Yeo, Ellis & Bennell recently.
Im against picking all mids with our top 3 picks, as some have suggested, as with Sheed, Waterman + 1st pick, theres some good quality kids to work with. +DFA mid?
Maybe if Simmo believes McGoverns best position in the future is a forward, then pick a KPP Back with our 2nd/ 3rd. Or visa versa. As we know, its usually a payoff in 4-5 years time..
Any possible talls as sliders anyone?

Durdin to slide to our first pick is a decent possibility

I like Laverde as a goalkicking Mid , resting forward , pickett apparently has been likened to cyril rioli as a fwd , rainbow is defender mid long range goalkicker when playing midfield .. But rainbow has had back problems .. Goal kicking mids would be nice
