Be interesting to do a count of the actors featured most in the 100, Norton & Pitt look to be on top so far with maybe DeNiro & Dicaprio not far behind

I might just do that, directors as well. For all the flak Brad Pitt gets he's doing pretty well.

Roobs321, here it is:

Is that a top 100 list compiled by those who do not know movies were made before the 21st century?

By my count, 62 of the movies listed thus far were released prior to the 21st century, so the insinuation that this list primarily emphasizes contemporary movies isn't really accurate. But in a popularity contest like this, there will obviously be some bias in favour of newer movies, because those are what people tend to remember/were alive to see, and most people aren't such movie connoisseurs that they hunt down classics from the early days of cinema. You could've voted yourself if you wanted certain movies to place higher.

See the OP - it's a favourite movies list, not the 'best'. There were 43 of us and not ALL of us voted for the top movies. Have you seen the voting list (on another thread)?

It says TOP 100 movie countdown, if it's not the TOP 100 don't represent it as that

You've got 5 movies to go, you have two movies from the 1940's, six from the 1950's and three from the 1960's.

Nothing prior to 1941, FFS.

In the Classic movie thread we have been discussing what movies that should include, my opinion is that it should be for movies prior to 1960, others say 1970, I can live with 1970. For just 11 movies from that Classic period is just stunning. For there to be no Silent movies ... :(

Perhaps a similar classic movie list is in order. I'd be very interested in its outcome. There were some silent/1930s movies voted for in this countdown.

Meh, People want different things out of cinema. Some people want pure entertainment, some people want to think, some people want emotion, top acting quality, a great story etc.

IMO a lot of classical films dominate modern cinema's storytelling ability, but don't compare in regards to believable characters, acting ability, and obviously evoking emotion that is relevant to me.

There is no right and wrong in film preference.

I love your film knowledge Asgardian, but your try hard elitist tone always seems to be just below the surface. Its obnoxious to come into this list (given the board and community poll) and make such comments.

A Top 100 Movies ... View attachment 99091

To be honest I knew people would be voting more for popular movies and so my list was more of a vote of popular movies rather than my own personal favourites. My top personal favourites, though it would still include some of the popular movies I voted for, would be vastly different. My personal favourite movie would be Fahrenheit 451 which there was no point including as it would get no other votes.

I voted for mainly my favorites even though they were unlikely to make the final list, with a few more popular ones (that I still like a lot) thrown in. Doing a Top 20 instead of a 10 allows a lot more scope for doing this.
