Yep, people love the Oval. After years of putting up with sub standard facilities at both locations, the people of Adelaide have voted with their feet. The facilities are great, but it is the location that is driving the success. I mentioned before that there was an enormous amount of young hotties at the Strikers game the other night. They weren't there for the cricket, they were there for the social outing, a few warm up ciders and it was a launching pad to then hit the discotheque (or small wine bar or hipster pop up/whatever the kids do these days).

Dragging your arse there on a cold Sunday against the Western Bulldogs when we are sitting 14th on the ladder just won't be as hard a task as it once was.

Great post all round but "discotheque" really put it over the top.

Got my Magpies membership in the post the other day; so now I'm all carded up and ready for both the SNAFL and AFL seasons to start. Bring it on!

Still 13,311 ahead of the same day last year. Started on the 7th at 11,588 ahead of last year and got out to 13,349 on 20th. Even with all the auto renewal and securing seats by the 14th, people are signed up this month at the same rate as January 2014. Keep up a similar rate to last year, and we will hit 60k some time in April.

So in 11 days the increase from last year has decreased by 38.
Story for Stupid : "Port membership drive slowing."

Last year in the final count we were seventh in membership. Currently we are fourth with Richmond(third) only 820 ahead of us. Although some clubs may be simply lagging in recording renewed memberships.

The crows would have at least 55k by now.
Regardless, any number in the 50's is a brilliant figure, especially if we're selling all of our 11 game memberships.

Why is that people seem to lose their s**t over the possibility of us reaching 60k members or beyond? Port Adelaide was never a suburban club anymore than Collingwood is. Our supporters come from all walks of life, baptised in the blood, sweat and tears extracted from a group of men who believe that winning is the only thing that matters, but that there can be honour in defeat only after you've given your utmost. If you believe that, you are Port Adelaide. Why would anyone want to put a limit on how many people want to echo that ethos?

Remember when we thought 40k members was a pipedream?
As long as we have a base of 45-50 for the next ten years we will be set for another generation.

SA memberships up 22k!

Surely Port are counting their members at different times than last year since we are up 12,000 from this time last year. I hope I'm wrong though. 60k maybe just maybe.
Last year the large boost of renewals came a lot earlier because of the move to AO. A lot of the numbers also came later in the year as people got on board. From this point last year we signed up another 16000. Although we are unlikely to sign up that many as most of them would have renewed already, there is no reason we can't keep going at about 100 per day which would give us 60000 members by May.

So does anyone remember the date that seat changes will be finalised?

I got a call from the club mid last week regarding some details on my western stand reserved seating request and the girl said they were getting close to issuing offers. I assume changes would be similar.

I can't help but wonder how the Norwood/Sturt merged AFL club would be sailing right about now.
Or just for laughs contemplate the Glenelg, South Adelaide Panthers and who could forget the powerful cartel of North, west, centrals and WWT. Sad sacks!

The AO effect cannot be ignored. Clearly Port are the more successful club but the cows last 2 years have been below par and still their membership is increasing. The real test will come when we start bottoming out or falling down the ladder. With the team we have now and the players coming through hopefully that will not be for a while.

2 weeks it is then.

Frankly, friggin awesome!!

Someone was lamenting a few weeks back about the "slowdown" in memberships. What slowdown? They just keep rolling in! Now with the digital membership available in time, I would say we could get a few thousand members from that source. For people like me who want access to all games, but dont want Foxtel, it is a very good alternative, and supports the club.

I reckon we will make 60,000 quite easily.

Here's one from the PAFC 2014 Membership Tally thread. The increases are still over 150 a day in this one but we're about 13000 ahead at a similar time :

I dont know what you mean.
For the 2014 memberships you had to submit your seat request for a similar seat at AO to Footy Park during August and September 2013. That took time for confirmation and in late October 2013 the packages came out once existing members had the first chance to lock in their seats. Ok I now recall you had to pay a deposit / instalment of 1/10th your seat value to lock in your seat. I reckon that payment was late September or early October or maybe even late October.

The 2014 membership thread opened on 2nd November 2013 started off with...
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/pafc-2014-membership-tally.1039977/
November 2nd 2013 - 24,759 members already signed up!!!!

This year because of the BS delays with stadium deal review we didnt launch our packages in mid october like planed but had to wait until 21st November 2014. Because of AO being such a success we had 3,000 on a waiting list, and everyone said *, *, I better sign up and confirm and lock in my great seat, and/or request a change, by the auto renewal date, which was also cut off date - until we changed it, so on auto renewal date the membership jumped by 25,400 in mid December.

I'm stuffed if I know why people who regularly read these boards, have forgotten only 14 months ago and question if our numbers are real.

As I posted last week, the numbers are the numbers, if you dont believe them or dont understand them maybe you need to go and have some remedial maths and arithmetic lessons. And a memory retention course should be considered as well.
