Interesting, No Whitecross or Swan...wonder the reasoning behind that.

Whitecross :( Really want a Zac Jones or Billie Smedts to be relevant early in the year if Whitecross is still off the pace and is a downgrade target instead.

Not worried with Swannie he'll be managed, he played in the intraclub last week and got 72 apparently, should probably play NAB 2 or NAB 3.

Whitecross is struggling to be fit and ready for round 1, let alone be best 22.

As a poster said above i wouldnt be planning my round 1 side around him.

Collingwood seem like they are resting some of there stars, Collingwood probably in a position where they need to see alot of there youth to see whos the best for round 1.

WCE fans seemed impressed with Nelson in the indigenous game, he might be one to keep an eye on.

Highlighted the players of interest this pre-season and ones to keep an eye out for.

No Caleb Daniel?

Guessing he just being rested as no injury concerns for him as he has been tracking well this pre-season. I expect him to play next week or week after for sure.

There is no Shane Biggs either....guessing same deal.

Can't play every rookie in the first game lol!

Jed Anderson was super impressive.

Karnezis good but he's done this before.

De Goey showed what he will probably do for his first couple of seasons. Not many disposals but is good when he does something. I reckon he is going to be an effective sub for them until he builds his fitness.

Freeman quiet but he did only come on at the 6 minute mark of the second quarter. Spent almost the whole time at half forward.

Collingwoods half forward line is going to be interesting. You would think Fasolo and Elliot will play deeper then it's between Thomas, Broomhead, Freeman, Karnezis, Kennedy, Blair, Goldsack and Dwyer. That's a lot of competition. Thomas and Karnezis were probably the best of them tonight. Worried about Freeman sharing the sub duties with De Goey.

Collingwood have a really even side, a few similar types aswell.

Degoey bad 24 disposals in the intraclub 2nd most behind the captain.

I think Freeman will play a bit as the sub hes ideal for that. It was hist first AFL game pretty much so ill give him more of a chance to get upto speed.

Blair and dwyer seem behind at the moment of the names listed above.

The mythical Prudden was named though

Taylor Adams 10k 13h, but only 2 marks and 1 tackle, 63 points, will only be getting 75s/80s from H and A games with that type of output.

Adams averaged 75 and 82 in his first 2 years with GWS playing as that inside mid. He should improve on that average again but I wouldn't think by too much. Would need to boost his tackle count massively as I don't see his marks increasing all that much.

Thats the problem with Adams its the same problems that Ziebell and Caddy have.

Adams has found the ball in both the intraclub and 1st nab game but is going at just a tick over 3 points per disposal ration in both games. You dont want to be relying on him to get 30 odd touches to get a 100 every week.

Im not sure hes that starting onballer that everyone thinks he will be. Greenwood, Swan, Pendles and Sidebottom would all be ahead of him. I am intrugued by him and am certainly keeping an eye on Swans and Adams role through nab.

Nelson was impressive again this afternoon, I would put him down as the best performed rookie. Didn't get a huge amount of the ball but his use of the ball was excellent and he looked composed under pressure. It's a shame he isn't a defender in DT. He does have a fair bit of competition for that half back spot though with Sheppard performing very well today as well as Yeo spending a fair bit of time across half back. Add to that Hurn, Butler, Bennell (lockdown defender), Ellis and Schofield and spots might be a bit tight.

Carlton rookies didn't really impress me all the much. A few glimpses but DT wise it wasn't a good game for them.

Oh and Lamb was also quiet. Ran around like a headless chook a fair bit and was a bit fumbly. I think he will get a few games this year with Darling struggling to get up for round 1 and now possibly Emac down (possibly meaning Mcgovern spends more time back). Is being compared to Darling but he doesn't look as ready made. Would be surprised if he is DT relevant.

Yeh Lambs not even worth considering.

Nelson on the other hand seems a likely round 1 options especially with continuing injuries to the eagles defenders.
