Toughest ladder to do since I can remember. Hawks, Cats and Pies still look strong, but I can see WCE, Sydney, Freo and Carlton all seriously challenging. After that, Essendon, Richmond, Adelaide and North are all building good teams after time in the wilderness. There are going to be some great games this year and I predict there will be some humdinger games between the top 11.

I am excited by WCE - they have a good balance between experience and youth. Nic Nat is also one helluva wildcard.

6th down to 15th could be a complete lottery.

1. Hawthorn (they are primed)
2. Carlton (improving each year)
3. Collingwood (thereabouts)
4. West Coast (won't lose many at home and will continue being strong)
5. Geelong (the slide will start)
6. Sydney (hanging around)
7. Fremantle (will take a step forward)
8. North Melbourne (need to make the 8 and will sneak in)

9. Melbourne (stagnating)
10. Richmond (please not 9th!)
11. Essendon (may tread water for a year)
12. Brisbane (will improve, lost a lot of close ones in 2011)
13. Adelaide (will take a year to get their sturctures right)
14: St Kilda (will drop away)
15. Bulldogs (will need to rebuild)
16. Gold Coast (slight improvement)
17: Port Adelaide (another year of suffering, but on the right track)
18: GWS (will be more competitive than many people think)

I think that the Western Bulldogs can make a suprise return to top 4 this year and rediscover there form from 2009/2010 with the welcome returns of a fully fit Lake, Cooney and Griifen. As well as under new coach Brendon Mcartney, it's time to consider Doggies as a finals prospect

Bottom 5-6 certainties.

I can't see them winning more than 12, which would have them in the bottom of the 8 IMO.
West Coast and Sydney (SCG predominately) should win the majority of their home games this season. Hawks have a 4 games at Auroroa and Cats have a fair few at Simonds ( meaning they should win comfortably against teams like sydney and bulldogs who could otherwise give it a decent shot ).
Mind you, if they hit the ground running against WestCoast , Adelaide , and StKilda anything could happen.

Who does everyone think will be the big slider and big improver of 2012.
I think Essendon will be lucky to finish top 12.
I think Fremantle will be pushing for top 4.
