FTA-TV 2012 Ratings

Lost 10 million viewers on FTA, but increased Pay TV viewers by 20 million, more than double - that is a massive number.

And those 123 million viewers are held for 50% longer than the other football codes.

It would be interesting to see where the top 100 pay TV shows ends up - AFL games will feature quite heavily this year.

The AFL is still way ahead yes the A League has improved but is way behind on only 9 million compared to the AFL on 123 million.

..........

I assume those figures are like last year before another article was written showing total rugby league audiences where they add to NRL figures the State of Origin and Test matches and the RL totals are then higher than Aussie rules total and then the s**t fight continues.

The SOO are not nRL matches but ARL events and shouldnt be counted Just the same as the socceroos are not A League games.

But representive games are equal of GF's and TV pays the big $$ for them. Leaguies will argue it's a fundemental part of their season. And seeing this is a thread about TV ratings you can't ignore the impact of those on the game overall.

It will become interesting next year when you will be able to compare second tier interests as well.

NSW/Toyota Cups (NRL) will be on Fox, as will the Foxtel Cup (AFL). This year the Toyota Cup generally had slightly better viewiership than the Foxtel Cup when they were on the same weeks.
QLD Cup (NRL) will be on Nine, state leagues (AFL) will be on the ABC. WAFL/VFL/SANFL easily accounted for senior NRL matches this year in their home states.
