A mostly harmless, safe night all up, fairly content with the results (although Modern Family winning year-in year-out is sickening).

Great to see Cranston win a final time, after not winning for a few years.

Would love to see some Mad Men/Hamm love in the last year or so (although I guess those first four wins have evaporated a lot of the awards love).

Agreed, it's certainly fair enough given BrBa mostly maintained a standard of excellence for its entire run, which is a rare thing. Great sight to see a 6th year rewarded. Not many would regard the 5th season as the best season, but it's certainly an adequate enough winner.

Ironically, Mad Men is also in similar territory, although I think BrBa ep-to-ep across its run would average a slightly higher standard, it was a very cinematic show.

Yeah bitch! Aaron Paul wins.

6th year rewarded?

It seems ridiculous that McConnaughey is walking away empty handed but you can't say Cranston doesn't deserve it, if I was voting I'd probably resort to flipping a coin to decide who wins there.

6th year rewarded?
5th season was spread out over 2 years, and was treated separately by Emmys (Season 5 Part 1 & 2 both won Best Drama series). That means it was eligible for Best Drama series on 6 different occasions.

Although I guess The Sopranos and even 24 both recently won best series deep into their runs.

Those Emmys did not in any way indicate how great Television actually is right now. Maybe some of that gets shown next year (not sure how seasons of shows are eligible for when), but there has never been more quality stuff on tv. Yet half of what's great (not just good) weren't even nominated.

No Cranston, no McConaughey and if the biggest name TD S2 can put up is Farrell, then hopefully, HOPEFULLY Jon Hamm finally gets his Emmy. Though he will be up against Buscemi in Boardwalk's final year too.
