A 3-0 victory at 'home' against Notts County have lifted the sodden Cumbrians up to 5th place, only 4pts out of automatic promotion spots.

Our 'home' game was played 85 miles away in Preston and a little over 3000 Carlisle supporters turned up.

Jabo Ibehre scored a double to take his season tally to 12 which is an impressive total as we are still in December, but is a little more impressive considering he missed all of October and most of November due to injury. It took a game or two to get back into the swing of things but he is starting to get back into the scoring form from earlier in the season.

Carlisle's first game since before Christmas ended with a 2-0 loss to league leaders Plymouth Arglyle. It was our home game but played at Blackburn because of the floods. It is hoped that we can start playing at Brunton Park in a couple of weeks. The sooner the better, playing our home games away is not advantageous when fight for promotion.

Forest Green won 1-0 over Lincoln City keeping us 2 points behind leaders Cheltenham.

One of those rare weekends where the Toon, Rovers and Jets all win so I'm naturally quite a happy chap right now. :D

Talk about the stars aligning.

Those Newcastle teams are just not lifting their weight. One gets the feeling that if Newcastle did something similar like City did and actually take over the Jets, they'll manage to fluff up any potential transfer dealings.

Knowing us, we'd rehire and allow John Carver to manage the Jets given his exemplary record with Toronto. Cashley to the board: "Canada is just like Australia right? They like pancakes."

Carlisle United are returning home to Brunton Park this Saturday for their match against bottom team York City, 49 days after the floods from Storm Desmond caused considerable damage to the stadium and district in December.

Still a lot of work to be done around the stadium but at least we are back home.

The Toon lost and the Jets got smacked for 6 but at least Forest Green continue to give me some joy. Another win, 1-0 over Braintree keeps us second and keeps the pressure on leaders Cheltenham.

Rovers are top of the table after a last gasp 1-0 win this morning!

Just need those Cheltenham lads to slip up with their game in hand it will be lovely. :D

Alty beat Woking 3-1 last night. Was their first home game in the league since ... wait for it ... November 21

7 of the next 9 at home so a good chance to climb up the table after sinking dangerously close to the bottom 3.

Wowzers!

What happened with the fixturing? Did a bunch of games get postponed or something due to poor conditions?

We're up to 15th with that win.

Bloody close league atm
9th-11th - 34 points
12th-14th - 33 points
15th - 32 points
16th - 31 points

So 3 points seperating 9th from 16th
FC Utd's 15th points from playoffs, but 7 points clear from relegation.

Next up, away to top of the league Solhill

Still top of the league following a last gasp 2-1 win over Macclesfield Town.

Looks like it could be a 2 horse race for the title with our rivals Cheltenham. :D

It's always interesting being a Carlisle United fan, todays 2-2 draw against Exeter was held up for an hour when someone set off a smoke bomb evacuating one of the stands. The result didn't go our way, since the floods in December we have lost momentum and now look like we may miss the playoffs.

so after being delayed 6 weeks ago, we finally got the Solihill game in overnight.

Them? 9 points clear on top of the league.
Us? 3 points clear from relegation zone
Scenerio? At their home stadium

Result? FC United won 2-1!

Built a little gap! :D

Do you know why they ended up calling themselves what they did and not something easier?

As an update, FGR are still second :D
In the National League, 2nd place is 1st of the Losers.

But, holy crap, that's a huge gap to third. That 2nd place tie better with the playoff! Imagine getting dunked by Lincoln at the very end.

At least you're in touching distance, all you can do is press the above team and keep winning, taking advantage of any screwups.
