Well that was horrible, ref should be getting a few weeks off absolutely disgusting decisions on the penalty as well as the FBK red card.
It's really hard to take this league serious sometimes with this level of incompetence from the refs.

Sick of going to Perth every time and always copping it! if it's not a dodgy decision it's a dodgy goal.

I think Kev stuffed up starting Deng should have started with Ansell.
FBK shouldn't have been sent off but it was stupid what he did in the first place just let it go and move on ffs!

Berisha brilliant!!!

Perth can go and get f@cked!!!

It's clear we are all frustrated at the laughable officiating last night so I won't touch on that.

However, defensively we still have too many concerns. Why does Muscy change the back 4 regularly? This is one area of the pitch that requires continuity and stability.
Why is it that we allow teams space between the lines in the final third to turn and do as they please? Our guys just sag/stand off.
At the other end, Berisha, FBK, Finkler and Barbarouses are never afforded such luxuries.

Vukovic is also a poor GK. Sure he can pluck a top save from nowhere but his rest of his game is rubbish. That positioning for the first goal, Deng's error aside was atrocious.

Seriously, it's time to give Thomas a game and some minutes, outside of being an ordinary player (Vukovic) he is horribly out of form and has been for some time.

I always thought he was a little unfairly maligned by Victory supporters. I never understood why they had so little time for him.

That said - with Delpierre, Ansell and Deng, he's not the player we need. Certainly I'd be pretty disappointed if he was the injury replacement for Valeri.

If he could come in for the ACL, allowing us to leave out Delpierre, I'd cop that - and then maybe he can become a full roster member for next season. It's gotta be easy enough to do - ACL payments aren't factored into the salary cap and, unlike Wilkinson who we were talking about for a similar role, it's not like Leijer would be risking a Socceroo spot.

Brox set for the double ton
Melbourne Victory's versatile Leigh Broxham is set to become a Hyundai A-League double centurion should he feature for the team this weekend.

Top of the table Western Sydney Wanderers will be the visitors looking to spoil the party at Etihad Stadium, where a bumper crowd is expected to celebrate the achievement.

Clocking 200 games, the utility trails only Archie Thompson, on 217 games, for appearances in the navy and blue.

Whilst 10 players have beaten him to the feat of 200 games in the A-League, only two other players have done so for the same club.

Broxham signed for the Victory in the 2006/07 season and proved his versatility after coming on as a substitute in Round 19 of that season against Perth Glory.

Whether at the back, on the flank or in midfield, Broxham has time and time again proved his reliability and ability to adapt to all situations.

He has since established himself as one of Victory's most respected figures and was named in the club's Team of the Decade last year.

hmmm. i mean he's loyal (or maybe no other team wanted him), and guts and determination type player. i suppose every team needs one, but is he in our best xi?

Honestly, with everyone fit and firing, he's probably not - Geria, Ansell, MDP and Geria are ahead of him at the back, Valeri and Bozanic would be ahead of him in midfield (although possible question marks over Bozanic) - but he's a valuable player for the reasons you outline, and also for the fact that he's so versatile and can play so many different positions. Even if he isn't in our very best 11, he's nearly your perfect bench player at A-League level.

He probably isn't, but how often is the best XI out on the park all at once?

geria is so good he plays left and right back!

It's a weird error actually - I wish Geria could play both, cos Georgevski is the one that that I'm not certain about. And I don't recall Broxham playing much, if at all at LB.

Valeri ruled out for season

Melbourne Victory have been dealt a blow with captain Carl Valeri being ruled out for the season with an ongoing inflammatory brain condition.

Despite ongoing improvement of his condition, all parties have decided the best direction in this situation was to give Valeri an extended amount of time to focus on his rehabilitation.

"Carl developed incoordination and balance problems eight weeks ago. Extensive tests and specialist neurological reviews have determined an isolated inflammatory process affecting a small part of the brain. The exact cause of this inflammation is unknown," said Melbourne Victory club doctor Krishant Naidu.

"Carl's condition has continued to improve with treatment but he has not recovered sufficiently to be able to return to football training.

"As such he will be unavailable for the remainder of the Hyundai A-League season. The inflammation remains isolated and continues to decrease in size.

Naidu however was optimistic that Valeri would make a full recovery with the extended leave of absence.

"We are optimistic that Carl will continue to make a full recovery. This is expected to take a few months.

"Carl will continue his rehabilitation under supervision and devote his energies to his recovery."

Manager Kevin Muscat reiterated that the club, players and supporters would be right behind Valeri in his quest to return to the pitch.

"We have said all along that returning to full health should be Carl's number one priority, before he considers playing again," he said.

"While we have missed his on-field presence in the last two months, we want to make sure he concentrates on getting his health right, without the pressure of returning sooner than he should."

Valeri had only played four games, the last being in Round 8, before suffering from symptoms affecting his co-ordination.

"It has been a frustrating time for me not being able to join my team-mates on the pitch for the last few months," he said.

"The doctors have been happy with the progress I've been making, but they believe it's the best thing for me to take the right amount of time to recover fully.

"I'm grateful to the club for taking the view that they have, and I look forward to returning in a full time basis and leading the team again.

"I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Melbourne Victory, and all the members and fans who have wished me well and respected my privacy during this time."

Leigh Broxham, who plays his 200th game this weekend, will continue to captain the side in Valeri's absence.

so sad hope he gets well soon. :(

Health before football, always. Get well soon Carl.

Hopefully we've got a signing or two in the pipeline to give us a boost, big couple of months coming up.
