If we get another first round pick, i reckon Nick O'kearney is the type of player we need. Leadership leadership leadership and could be a future captain.

If I was a carlton scout, I would use the 1st round pick on a tall defender. Then follow what freo and collingwood has done: Get a posse of 190 cm mids. Eventually one of those 190 cm mids will emerge as a Darling/Howe/Crameri type forward. One that can kick 30-40 goals a season as a half forward flanker or centre half forward. That has been the trend in the last few years.
How the hell did he find you?Is there anyone not willing to advise us on our plight? Oh great, Joffa's at the door...........
I would trust Silvagni as well. Still the difference is GWS had a ton of 1st round picks, Carlton wont. No point trading the likes of gibbs and murphy, might as well keep them. Still if carlton gets a couple of 2nd round picks, there is some hope. Go look what freo got in 2008 draft. Also theres been history of guys like betts and walters taken at late picks, so there is hope. Again the 1st pick is not the be all and end all... 3rd and 4th round gems have been popped up a lot.Weitering is the start. I'll trust SOS whatever he does
Can't be that bad, at least carlton never picked up cale morton or jack watts! Is there anyone not willing to advise us on our plight? Oh great, Joffa's at the door...........
early doors - we'd be just the club for a 7ft wingman
All it will take is 2 teams coming along and bidding first round for both Bailey and Jack and I reckon virtually all our picks disappear.
As far as I can see it doesnt matter... it's what other teams bid.Neither look like 1st round picks at this early stage.

Is it worth the risk to offer that much for pick 4? GC wont give up pick 4 for anything. bulldogs traded pick 6 and griffen to get boyd. I am going to be realistic here... If Carlton want to get a top 10 pick, they have to trade their 2nd round pick and a key player. Its risky but its hard to complain if you have picks 1 and 10 but no 2nd round pick. freo did trade Graham Polak and pick 12 for pick 8 in 2006. then we stupidly traded that pick for chris tarrant. What if GC offer us pick 4 for either Gibbs or Murphy... we might need to pay some of there salary like in the Ryan Griffen deal
For all recruiting from now on, we must have some non-negotiable criteria that every player must have before we consider drafting them or engaging in a trade :
1. can kick accurately off both feet
2. can mark strongly overhead
3. does all of the 1%ers
4. is team orientated
5. has some mongrel
6. can handball accurately by both hands
7. can follow instructions implicitly
8. not afraid to put the body on the line when needed
9. never ever gives up & hates losing
10. will always run to support a team-mate at all times, especially when under physical intimidation
Any 17-18yo player who is in a State League and doing well now against grown men is who we should be going after. Let's get away from drafting project players (eg. basketballers & sprinters) in the hope they grow into the game, we have to go for tried & true footballers who have grown up with the game and already have a strong feel for what it takes.
Guys who are 188-190cm are not going to grow into key position players either so let's do away with that fallacy too. I'm still having nightmares about Trent Sporn supposedly growing 9cm to become a hulking CHB, what a goddam waste of time that one was.
If they have the height now, we can put some meat on their frame. If they have the skills & tenacity now, we can nurture that raw talent to make them more accountable & reliable.
Best available please.
Rewind two years and I would have said an inside mid and rebounding HBF were were the last places I'd want to fill.
Fast forward to now and I want to build a team around cripps and doc.
Ideally I'd like a KPB and a KPF. but if the choices aren't super line ball, I'll take highest rated.
