One thing I'd like to point out though is that Essendon dominated centre clearances. When Hawthorn scored, Essendon immediately replied.

But Hawthorn had the better game for 3 quarters so I can see where the frustration comes from.

Defensively our midfield was inept today. Just kept letting you guys walk out of the middle.

I think once we get into the swing of things we will cause teams sone issues. You guys probably match up better than anybody to us.
Kick straight and the Bombres were dead and buried by half time. OTH defensively the Hawks were a sieve and made it easier for more composed shots on goal.

A simplistic way of thinking. If one of those behinds was a goal, it would have gone back to the centre, an area we dominated, the margin may have been bigger

Problem with this thinking is that Hawthorn won the first possession from centre bounces, but didn’t win the clearances.
It’s why Reeves ended with a higher amount of Hits to advantage, yet we lost the centre bounce clearances.

Hawks fumbled, stumbled or lost the ball numerous times in the middle, but does it happen every time if they were to turn every one of those points into a goal? Probably not.

If we go on what actually happened, essendon dominated the centre clearances. The game would have been different if even one of those points was a goal.
