This will be a close one.
Hawthorn get up for these encounters. They're desperate for their first win of the season but I think Cats will honor Hawkins' 350th in style as they pull away late in the last quarter to secure a 15 point victory.

The Hawks will obviously be very fired up for their first win, especially against one of their main rivals.

However, now that the previous era is long gone, the two club's rivalry with one another seems a lot less fierce in overall terms, compared to say the Hawk's overall rivalry with Essendon. There seems to be more genuine hatred going on there no matter what era it is, or where each team is placed on the ladder, or maybe these things are just my perception?

With respect to the Hawks, the Cats cannot afford to drop games like this if they see themselves as a genuine contender this year, which they appear to. Hoping they go in with a killer mindset from the opening bounce, and don't need a 10 goal burst to put them away late in the game like last year. Having said that, that was a rare Easter Monday blow-out, which I can't see happening again. I think this will be close.

Cats by 16.

You're not playing the Sparrows this week!

Or at least you shouldn't be....I guess we'll see what runs out.
Do you know how hard it is to get your pet cat and hawk to both pose at the precise moment. Much easier this way.

Better?

If we get within 6 goals Geelong arent serious.

Hell, if we kick more than 6 goals Geelong arent serious.
Nonsense. Danger is out and it's not a sure thing any mids will return outside of Duncan. Hawthorn beat Collingwood comfortably last year. Upsets can and will happen. I expect Geelong to get it done but feel it will be closer than expected.

Our upsets will come later in the year. We are disfunctional at the moment.

Our forwards and our mids need to work together FAR better.

This will be your grand final for 2024. There is zero chance that Hawthorn will serve up the tripe they did last weekend.

Dangerfield, Guthrie and Bowes out of the midfield leaves it vulnerable. We still miss Rohan's pressure and pack crashing. In comes the kid Conway for Stanley.

If Atkins, Bruhn and Duncan return it'll shore us up a bit.

Not taking the 4 points for granted here at all.

Our forwards and mids are working together pretty, it's the fact we can't win a clearance to save ourselves which is the biggest issue.

We're 4th in the comp for Marks inside 50 currently.

It was only 2 quarters of tripe. The media have focused on the 1st quarter but the middle 2 were decent and Melbourne smacked a better side than us in the Dogs the week before

The problem is our midfield at the moment more than anything. Nearly every time we kick a goal the opposition is banging on 1 straight out of the middle so we can never build pressure
